Carlos PenaVega and his wife, Alexa PenaVega, have learned to accept the stillbirth of their daughter Indy through prayer.
“I think what’s been amazing is that … our Indy and then even recently [with] Charlie Kirk, like these guys, their lives have been so much more impactful after [death],” Carlos, 36, said on the Wednesday, March 4, episode of “The Upload” podcast. “I look at my life, and … I want to make sure whatever happens to me, when I do go, it’d be awesome if my life is as impactful if not more afterward.”
He continued, “[I want to be known for being] consistent in my walk and people see that, and I was intentional with all this stuff. If not, then what am I living for?”
Kirk, a conservative political commentator, was shot and killed in September 2025 when he was 31. Charlie is survived by his two children and wife Erika Kirk (née Frantzve), who has since honored his legacy by taking over his Turning Point USA organization and spreading his beliefs.
Alexa, 37, and Carlos, for their part, suffered a pregnancy loss with their fourth baby in April 2024, which she referred to as “the worst thing that ever happened in [her] life.”

“Before I was pregnant with Indy, I was very quiet [and] I would tiptoe around Carlos,” the Spy Kids star told “Upload” host Brooke Taylor. “I felt, like, this is me being a good wife, honoring him [and thinking], ‘Whatever he says goes.’ I ended up finding out [that] this tiptoeing was total fear of him, and there was no reason to fear him.”
According to Alexa, “something changed within” her after suffering a stillbirth.
“I was ignited on the inside, [where] this fear just got stomped out,” the actress said. “I have a boldness now, which in the first little bit, it was actually kind of hard because I was challenging [Carlos] for the first time in our marriage — or since the beginning of our relationship ‘cause I used to have that fire early on, and then I kind of became complacent.”
Since Alexa began speaking up for herself again, she felt like her marriage to the Big Time Rush singer has begun anew.
“Our relationship is, like, the 2.0 version [and] almost, like, we started over and we started dating again,” she said on Wednesday’s episode. “There’s just a fire that I think wasn’t fanned enough on my part for a long time that [has] now been ignited. It just feels so different now, at least for me.”
