Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have been keeping a low profile in light of their father Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s recent scandal.
“Eugenie and Beatrice have had to change their upcoming public-facing plans and future plans this year,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly. “They aren’t as worried about Andrew being arrested and going to jail, but they are still horrified that he’s involved in this and worry there could be more to come.”
Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35, are the two daughters of Andrew, 66, and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. The former Duke of York, who was stripped of his royal titles in October 2025, was arrested last month for alleged misconduct in public office. Andrew, who was released from police custody within hours, has not publicly addressed his arrest.
Ferguson, 66, Beatrice and Eugenie also have not spoken out about Andrew’s arrest. (Ferguson has also been entangled in the drama over her and Andrew’s associations with the late Jeffrey Epstein.)
“It’s devastating for them and in London it’s all people are talking about,” the source adds of the York princesses.
Eugenie made a rare public appearance last week, stepping out with husband Jack Brooksbank in London on February 24. She and her sister, according to a second source, have opted against attending many public engagements “in the near future.”

“They are not actually planning on doing any public events in the near future because of everything surrounding their parents because they know that will be the focus,” the second insider exclusively tells Us, denying reports that they were “banned” from the Royal Ascot in June. “They were not going to be there anyway. They were not planning on attending,” due to travel and other commitments.
The second source further shut down any claims that Beatrice and Eugenie, who are not working royals, had been excluded from their extended family.
“The royal family has not distanced themselves from the girls. [Prince] William and [Princess] Kate [Middleton] are close with them,” the second insider adds. “They have been through enough. They are not being blamed. There is a lot of compassion. They are not pariahs. They are cared for and loved under the circumstances which are incredibly painful.”
According to the second source, the royals “have compassion” for Beatrice and Eugenie amid the scandal.
“The royal family’s feelings have not changed. They love the girls,” the second insider notes. “The only feelings that have changed are toward Andrew and Fergie. They don’t hold Beatrice and Eugenie accountable. They are victims. … They have had strong royal connections and are still getting support from them.”
