Zayn Malik offered a glimpse of himself spending quality time with daughter Khai.
Malik, 32, shared a photo of him and Khai, 4, enjoying themselves at K-pop group BLACKPINK’s concert via his Instagram Story on Wednesday, March 4. In the snap, Malik and his daughter looked out into the crowd.
“@Blackpinkofficial thank you ???? Me & Khai loved it ❤️,” the musician captioned the sweet post of the father-daughter duo.
Malik shares Khai with his ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid, who he began dating in 2015. The couple expanded their family five years later. At the time, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that Hadid, 30, and Malik were doing “better than ever” after welcoming their first child.
The following year, however, Us confirmed the on-off couple called it quits.
News of their breakup came as Malik was charged with four criminal offenses of harassment following an alleged altercation with Gigi’s mother, Yolanda Hadid. Malik pleaded no contest to the charges and was fined for the incident. He was put on 90-day probation for each of the four counts and was ordered to complete anger management classes and a domestic violence program.
Malik has since been candid about his coparenting relationship with Hadid, who moved on with Bradley Cooper.
“The main thing in my mind is trying to be a good example to [Khai],” he said on an episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast in July 2023. “That’s why I’m even doing this interview, you know? I used to get a lot of anxiety around having a conversation like this. And I want her to be able to look at me and be like, ‘My dad’s doing this.'”
The former One Direction member later spoke about sharing custody of Khai, sharing insight into how they spend time together.
“I only have my daughter 50 percent of the time,” Malik revealed during an interview with Nylon in May 2024. “I would have her 90 percent if I could. We go see Disney on Ice or we go see the Nickelodeon theme park. Or we go to the beach. That’s how I get out.”
Malik explained at the time that his childhood experiences played a role in his romantic relationships.
“I lived a very chill life in Bradford. I never really had a girlfriend. My parents were kind of old-school, so I never brought a girlfriend home or anything,” he said. “When I got the chance to do that, I jumped straight in, two feet first, and was like, ‘I’m going to have a girlfriend, and she’s going to live with me. This makes me a grown man.’”
Malik continued: “It’s probably wise to take your time before you fully invest in another human being as a lifelong partner.”
In February, Malik walked back comments he previously made about “never” being in love with Hadid “I will always love Gigi, because she’s the reason my child is on this Earth, and I have the utmost respect for her,” he said on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. “I will always love her. I don’t know if I was ever in love with her.”
Malik stood by his outlook on his personal life.
“I have so much respect for this woman, and I do love her crazy amount. But I don’t think I was in love with her at that point,” he concluded. “Otherwise, I would have been a better version of myself.”
