David and Victoria Beckham’s birthday messages didn’t immediately spark a reunion with their son Brooklyn Beckham.
“Brooklyn ignored David’s attempt at getting his attention with that birthday post,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly. “He thinks it’s just another way for them to save face with the public and that it did not feel meaningful.”
Brooklyn turned 27 on Wednesday, March 4, which his parents marked with respective social media tributes.
“Happy Birthday Bust,” David, 50, wrote via his Instagram Stories, using his nickname for his eldest son and sharing old family photos. “Love you x.”
Victoria, 51, also shared throwback pics of Brooklyn to her page, writing, “Happy 27th birthday Brooklyn. I love you so much.”
David and Victoria welcomed Brooklyn in 1999, months before they tied the knot. The pair later expanded their family with sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, as well as daughter Harper, 14.
David and Victoria’s relationship with Brooklyn, however, became strained amid their firstborn son’s 2022 wedding to Nicola Peltz Beckham. Brooklyn later revealed in a January statement that he had no desire to reconnect with his allegedly “controlling” parents.
“He is still keeping his distance and is not in touch with his parents,” the source tells Us. “They are trying, but Brooklyn has ignored their attempts.”

Instead, Brooklyn rang in his 27th birthday with Nicola, 31, by his side.
“He had a lovely day celebrating with Nicola, and she made him feel special,” the insider adds to Us. “He is not letting any of the nonsense bother him.”
The Lola director kicked off her husband’s special day by ordering a donut display that spelled out, “Happy Birthday Brooklyn.”

“Happy birthday, baby ????,” Nicola captioned a Wednesday upload via Instagram. “I hope all your dreams and wishes come true! You light up every room you walk into and anyone who knows you loves you.”
She continued, “You’re the most special human and I love being your wife. I love you, I love you, I love you.”
Later that night, Nicola and Brooklyn were joined by their friends at a birthday party in his honor.
“Last night was so special ????,” she wrote via Instagram on Thursday, March 5. “Thank you to everyone who came and made it so perfect. We all love you so much, Brooklyn!”
Brooklyn, for his part, reposted Nicola’s party pics via his Instagram Story but did not publicly acknowledge David and Victoria’s own messages. He previously claimed that his parents value “public promotion and endorsements” over offline relationships.
“Brand Beckham comes first. Family ‘love’ is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even if it’s at the expense of our professional obligations,” Brooklyn alleged in his bombshell January statement. “We’ve gone out of our way for years to show up and support at every fashion show, every party, and every press activity to show ‘our perfect family!’ But the one time my wife asked for my mum’s support to save displaced dogs during the L.A. fires, my mum refused.”
David and Victoria have not publicly addressed their son’s accusations.
