Former One Direction musician Niall Horan found a love worth singing about thanks to his long-term girlfriend, Amelia Woolley.
“I’m in a relationship, so I think that comes with [it],” Horan told Entertainment Tonight in June 2023 of using his relationship as lyrical inspiration. “Usually, it’s the love songs [or] heartbreak songs, so it’s nice to be able to write better, you know, happier stuff.”
Horan and Woolley have been romantically linked since 2020, making their public debut at his Horan & Rose Gala that September.

“I try to keep my private life as private as I possibly can,” Horan told Bustle in 2023. “There’s a tendency in the world to take your arm off when you offer a handshake, you know what I mean? But, I’m not hiding.”

Much like Horan’s song title, he met Woolley at a dinner party.

In a TikTok comment, Horan revealed that “Dinner Party” was inspired by “a really happy and big moment” in his life.
“An evening at a simple dinner party that changed the course of my life,” he explained. “After writing the song, the words ‘dinner party’ became the nucleus for the rest of the record. That once in a lifetime moment that I am grateful for and for everything that came after that night.”
