Crystal Kung Minkoff is weighing in on Dr. Wendy Osefo doubling down after her and husband Eddie Osefo’s arrest.
“Karen [Huger] is just like, — which I agree — ‘I can’t believe you’re here. I can’t believe your lawyers allowed you to come to this reunion and talk about it like you did nothing wrong.’ There’s so much evidence against them, but she doubled down. She’s like, ‘Our house was broken into. The kids said, ‘Oh my God, our dog messed up the house. We called the police.’ And they said 10 months later, the cops came, the same cop that came — and she opened the door and I said, ‘Did you find him? Did you find them?’ And he goes, ‘There was never a break-in,” Crystal, 43, said on the Monday, March 9, episode of the “Humble Brag” podcast, while recalling the The Real Housewives of Potomac reunion.
Crystal continued, “She tells this story so cleany. I guess in her mind, this is the story and that’s it and I will be unwavering in this story. I’m not an attorney, but I don’t know. I just think you lay low. Skip the reunion, send your love. We’ll get through this as a family, wrap it up.”
Crystal claimed that Wendy, 41, is at the reunion “fighting the other girls” about the season, “as if nothing happened.”
“Her charges could put her in prison over 20 years,” Crystal alleged. “I would not be wasting my time on that couch. I would be with my kids. I don’t know. That’s my thing. It’s just really, really sad to me.”
News broke in October 2025 that Eddie and Wendy were arrested on charges of insurance fraud, conspiracy insurance fraud and false statement to a police officer, according to court docs obtained by Us Weekly at the time. The pair was booked in Westminster, Maryland, and released after posting $50,000 bond each, a rep for the Carroll County Detention Center confirmed to Us.
“Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits,” a rep for the pair told Us in a statement at the time. “They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues. The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.”
Per court documents, Wendy and Eddie’s arrest came after the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of an alleged burglary at their home in April 2024. At the time, Wendy and Eddie claimed that they returned to their house after a trip to Jamaica and found their bedroom and closets had been ransacked, with items stolen. Eddie, for his part, gave statements to two insurance companies regarding a list of stolen items.
Deputies became suspicious of the burglary claim, with an investigation determining that several of the items Wendy and Eddie alleged were stolen had been purchased and returned to the store — with a full refund provided before the alleged burglary. The items were valued in excess of $20,000.
Email correspondences, which were obtained by deputies, showed Eddie asking Wendy if there were “additional high-value items we can add to this inventory listing (i.e., Chanel shoes, etc.)? I’m trying to get the total to exceed $423,000 which is our policy maximum.”
The investigation found that Wendy and Eddie were “burdened by substantial debt.” Wendy, meanwhile, accused the police of an “illegal arrest” and demanded that evidence be “suppressed because of an unlawful search or seizure,” as well as for all wire and verbal communications to be “suppressed because of an unlawful interception.” She filed a motion to squash a subpoena issued as part of her criminal case in November 2025.
Months later, Us confirmed via court records that Wendy and Eddie appeared in a court hearing. The records indicated that both parties appeared to waive their rights to a speedy trial within 180 days of their first court appearance.
Host of the “What Else Is Going On?” podcast Taria Shondell Faison alleged to have been in the courtroom during the hearing and claimed that Wendy and Eddie “will no longer be tried together.”
“They are estimating that Wendy’s trial and Eddie’s trial will each run four days. With one day for the defense. Again, that is the current estimate,” Faison claimed via X.
No pleas were entered, according to the Carroll County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, no pleas were entered. A status update for both cases is set for May 20.
