Hilary Duff has opened up about her estrangement from sister Haylie Duff.
Hilary and Haylie were once close, with the sisters by each other’s sides as they worked on several projects together in the early 2000s. As the years went by, Hilary and Haylie seemingly drifted apart. Haylie moved to Texas in 2021, while Hilary remained in California.
Rumors later swirled that Hilary and Haylie were feuding. Hilary later raised eyebrows when she released her song “We Don’t Talk” in February 2026.
“’Cause we come from the same home, the same blood / A different combination, but the same lock,” she sings. “People ask me how you’re doing, I wanna say amazing / But the truth is that I don’t know / What I always end up saying is / How we don’t talk, we don’t talk, talk about it.”
After dropping the song, Hilary confirmed on CBS Mornings it was “definitely” inspired by her relationship with Haylie.

“Absolutely the most lonely part of my existence is not having my sister in my life at the moment,” Hilary said on CBS Mornings in February 2026. “It’s my truth, and so many people are [also] having this experience.
