Taylor Frankie Paul is entering her Bachelorette era.
“For those of you that don’t know me, I’m Taylor Frankie Paul, your new Bachelorette,” Taylor, 31, said in a trailer for The Bachelorette released on Monday, March 9. “My rise to fame has been sudden. It was a huge deal, which led to The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. I have been criticized, I have been judged and I have been rejected.”
She continued, “But anyone that takes the time to know me, will see that I am actually a genuine person and I mean well. And a person that deserves another chance at love. Stepping into this role as the Bachelorette will be new to me. I clearly don’t fit into the mold.”
Taylor became emotional as she said her three children are her “drive” and “motivation” while Gracie Abrams’ “Close to You” began to play in the background. (Taylor shares daughter Indy, 8, and son Ocean, 5, with ex-husband Tate Paul, while she shares son Ever, 23 months, with ex Dakota Mortensen.)
“I’m trying to figure out who I’m taking home here. I’m not here to get played,” Taylor said in a confessional, before adding, “I want to take all of the roses away.”
As Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” began playing, footage from a rose ceremony showed Taylor taking a rose out of contestant Doug’s hands.
“That rose is not protecting you here. Some of these people are going home,” Taylor said, while host Jesse Palmer quipped, “Keeping us on our toes tonight.”
The trailer then showed Taylor standing outside as a car pulled away. Taylor went on to add that she’s “ready” to find The One, feeling like she was “gifted this for another chapter of [her] life.”
“I’m not a very by the book girl,” Taylor explained. “There are no rules.”
Clips from the season showed Taylor sharing a smooch while on a boat, smiling as she was being carried by a shirtless suitor, being swept off her feet on a beach and getting cozy with a man on a bed.
“If you look into your crystal ball, what are you hoping comes of all of this for you?” Jesse, 47, asked, to which Taylor replied, “A better version of me. And hopefully a husband.”
Season 22 of The Bachelorette will premiere on Sunday, March 22, on ABC and can be streamed on Hulu.
