Police have identified 35-year-old Ivanna Lisette Ortiz as the woman who allegedly fired shots into Rihanna’s home on Sunday, March 8.
Us Weekly can confirm that the Los Angeles Police Department has booked Ortiz for attempted murder, and she is being held on a $10 million bail.
Several outlets, including the Los Angeles Times, reported on Sunday that Rihanna, 38, was at home when a suspect “fired multiple rounds from inside her vehicle” into the singer’s Beverly Hills home. The LAPD confirmed to the newspaper that one round had “penetrated a wall” of the house at 1:21 p.m. on Sunday.
The LA Times further reported that there were “no injuries” reported at the residence, where Rihanna lives with longtime partner ASAP Rocky and their three children. Us Weekly reached out to Rihanna’s team and the LAPD on Sunday for comment.
According to the LAPD radio dispatch, “approximately 10 shots” were fired into the home. The alleged shooter was in a white Tesla and “fled” the scene. The suspect was reported as someone with her hair “in braids,” wearing “a cream-colored blouse.” Further details alleged that her car was “dirty on the bottom.”
Police officers located the vehicle and followed it to “a shopping center parking lot in Sherman Oaks,” where the suspect was taken into custody.
NBC News reported on Sunday that the suspect was allegedly armed with “an AR-15-style rifle.” LAPD’s “elite Robbery-Homicide Division” is investigating the ongoing case, according to the outlet.
It has only been reported that Rihanna was home at the time of the incident. It’s unclear whether Rocky, 37, was present. The couple, who have been together since 2020, share sons RZA, 3, and Riot, 2, and daughter Rocki, 5 months.
After news of the incident broke, TMZ published photos of yellow crime scene tape blocking off the street where Rihanna’s home is located. Neither Rihanna nor Rocky has made any public statements regarding the incident thus far.
Rocky recently discussed their romance during a January appearance on The New York Times’ “Popcast” podcast.
“A woman will change your whole life, especially if it’s a companion. Before I had my children, being with my girl took my blindfold off,” the rapper said at the time. “I got with a very special woman.”
He added, “I’m thankful she was put in my life at that time because I think anytime prior to that I don’t think I was ready for that. I don’t think she was either.”
