Even Donna Kelce’s famous family members were surprised when the beloved matriarch went viral for her seemingly innocuous Florida home renovations
“I didn’t even know she was doing these things,” Travis Kelce said on the Tuesday, March 10, episode of ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show. “If she needed a guy to come screw some door hinges in, she could have just called me.”
Travis, 36, added, “But I guess she’s doing a big, massive renovation.”
Donna, 73, took social media by storm over the weekend when TMZ posted an exclusive story, “Travis & Jason Kelce’s Mom Donna Remodeling Her Modest Florida Home.”
“Does anyone have an update on Donna Kelce’s house situation, I’ve been worried about her doors and windows all weekend, we can’t just move on from this,” one person joked via X.
In response to the news that Travis was planning on returning to the Kansas City Chiefs, another person wrote, “Mind you donna kelce is about to tear down a wall in her home and this is what you people care about.”
Donna’s older son and Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce, also got in on the fun.
“BREAKING!! Sources confirm Donna Kelce’s eldest son watched 2 hours of Bluey yesterday,” Jason, 38, posted via X on Sunday, March 8. (Jason shares four daughters with his wife, Kylie Kelce.)
As for the actual renovation, TMZ reported that Donna is currently in the process of renovating her two-bedroom, two-bathroom, 1,434-square-foot home in Orlando.
Donna has hired a company to replace nine windows and six doors on the home, which includes a den, library, office and an exercise room.
Travis’ mom going viral happened just days before he officially announced his return to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 14th NFL season on Monday.
“I’ve been having a few too many Garage beers right now,” Travis told McAfee, 38, about the beer brand he and his brother own. “Never too many, but you know I need to get back into the gym and hunker down and get back to the craft, man.”
Travis said he was motivated to come back due to the team’s “nucleus”: quarterback Patrick Mahomes — who is currently recovering from a season-ending torn ACL — and head coach Andy Reid.
“The biggest thing coming back is that we gotta be even hungrier than we’ve been before,” Travis acknowledged. “Talking to Pat, talking to Coach Reid and the guys, there’s a lot of dog mentality right now to get this thing fixed. That mentality itself is already motivating me to kind of get to where I need to be during the season.”
Kansas City missed the playoffs last season for the first time since 2014, Travis’ first full-time season in the league.
“We got some big hitters in Kansas City and we got Coach Reid. So we’re never out of this thing,” Travis boasted. “We know the division is getting pretty competitive across the board. That’s only going to make it for us to get better throughout the season and be the best team we can be at the end of it.”
