Demi Engemann has had a rocky journey on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives — but will season 4 be her last?
Hulu’s hit series, which premiered in September 2024, introduced Us to a group of Mormon mom influencers in Utah. Season 1 followed Demi, Jen Affleck, Whitney Leavitt, Mikayla Matthews, Mayci Neeley, Jessi Ngatikaura, Taylor Frankie Paul and Layla Taylor, with Miranda Hope rounding out the cast in season 2.
After a crossover with Lisa Vanderpump‘s Vanderpump Villa, the Mormon Wives stars weathered several affair scandals — with Marciano Brunette at the center of all of them. He initially claimed to have grown close to Demi — who is married to husband Bret Engemann — only to come on the show at the end of season 2 alleging he had an affair with Jessi — who is also married.
Jessi confirmed she was involved with Marciano, but Demi denied having any romantic relationship with him. Demi later accused Marciano of sexual misconduct, which led him to sue her for defamation.
While Jessi broke things off with Marciano, she sided with him in his feud with Demi. Jessi went on to share intimate details about Demi and husband Bret’s sex life (a.k.a the Fruity Pebbles of it all) before the show returned for season 4.
When fans got their first look at the new season, some were left confused as they noticed Demi was featured in certain scenes but wasn’t on the official poster for the show. Season 4 also marks the first time Jen, Jessi, Taylor, Miranda, Whitney, Mikayla, Mayci and Layla got executive producer credits for season 4, while Demi is only credited as a “friend” of the cast.
Demi previously called her future on the show “a big decision” that she didn’t take “lightly,” telling People in December 2025, “I have had wonderful experiences doing the show. I’ve had moments that I didn’t appreciate and where it felt like it maybe wasn’t a good fit for me, but it’s definitely something that I’m considering. I’m weighing out all the options and I probably just need to take a little bit more time to really think about what’s best for me moving forward.”
At the time, Demi shut down rumors she wasn’t invited back to the Hulu series.
“It’s been extended to me that the door is wide open and that I’m welcome back,” she continued. “I’m just hoping that we can continue the momentum and find the things that feel like a good fit for us long-term and find our place in this crazy entertainment world. It’s a wild world to navigate, but it’s also so fun and so many fun opportunities that have come from it.”
She continued: “And I’ve watched my friends experience so many fun things and it’s fun to watch them be successful and do all the things that they’re doing. So yeah, we’ll see.”
Amid the confusion about her future on the show, Demi expressed interest in slowing down.
“I want to enter into a little bit more of a slower season of life,” she noted. “So that’s what we’re going to be deciding over the next little bit, in terms of if we want to move forward there. It honestly kind of feels like a chapter’s closing and a new one’s opening, and I’m excited to see what comes of it. It’s a good way to close out the year and I’m excited to start back up 2026 and see what comes.”
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives returns to Hulu on Thursday, March 12.
