Assault charges filed in August 2025 against Mingus Reedus, the son of Norman Reedus and Helena Christensen, may be dropped.
A spokesperson for the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office told Us Weekly on Tuesday, March 10, that Mingus, 26, “accepted a Family Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal (ACD) and a full order of protection” while appearing in court on Monday, March 9.
The representative also stated that Mingus “must remain arrest free for one year and abide by the order of protection.” If the terms of the agreement are met, Mingus’ case “would be dismissed and sealed after the 12-month period.”
The statement also noted that the ACD was granted after authorities were “speaking with the complaining victim.” The ACD was confirmed due to “mindfulness of the impact further proceedings may have on retraumatizing the victim and consideration of her wellbeing and expressed wishes.”
Us confirmed on August 23, 2025, that Mingus, an artist based in New York City, was arrested and taken into custody by the New York Police Department earlier that day. Officers confirmed at the time that a 33-year-old woman was at the scene and presented neck and leg injuries.
TMZ also reported that Mingus was then charged with “reckless physical injury, aggravated harassment and second-degree harassment,” and pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Mingus’ attorney, Priya Chaudhry, told Us in a statement at the time, “Despite what the prosecutor said in court — which is not evidence — they chose to charge Mingus with misdemeanors or less. This speaks volumes, and much louder than the unsupported prosecutor’s in-court comments.”
The statement continued, “Equally important, the judge released Mingus on his own recognizance, with neither bail nor supervision. That significant judicial decision amplifies the volume. Mingus is presumed innocent and has pled not guilty. As the facts emerge, his innocence will become clear.”
The 2025 incident served as Mingus’ second arrest on grounds of assault following a September 2021 incident where an unidentified New York woman alleged that Mingus punched her in the face.
Mingus’ parents, Norman and Christensen, both 57, have not publicly addressed either of their son’s arrests.
Norman and Christensen were romantically involved from 1998 to 2003, welcoming Mingus in 1999. The pair have shared public praise for their son over the years, including when Mingus graduated from high school in 2018.
At the time, Christensen shared an Instagram photo of herself standing beside Mingus and Norman with the caption, “We’re so proud of you.” Norman also shared an Instagram tribute, writing, “Props to this lovely lady (he graduated!!),” alongside a photo of the trio.
Five years later, the former couple reunited to celebrate Mingus’ graduation from New York University, with the former model sharing another photo of herself with Mingus and Norman via Instagram.
