Craig Conover wasn’t the only cast member who was interested in Charley Manley this season on Southern Charm.
“Whit did take a shot at Charley, and we did have a date that got edited out,” newbie Whitner Slagsvol claimed on a recent episode of the “Morgan’s Pop Talks” podcast. “I shot my shot. It made it look like we only got a rejection, but that’s OK.”
According to Whitner, 36, the pair met up at Vendue, which is a stylish rooftop bar in Charleston, South Carolina.
“It was a nice date,” he recalled to podcast host Morgan Paige. “I guess probably a little stilted because it was both of our first times having, like, cameras in our face for a date, which is an experience.”
While the evening out didn’t lead to a long-term relationship, Whitner won’t forget some of the comments producers made while the date occurred.
“One of the producers who I was pretty close with was like, ‘Well, the other producer is saying we got to get him to kiss on the radio,’” Whitner recalled. “He’s like, ‘I can’t tell him to do that,’ and I’m like, ‘No, you definitely couldn’t have done that.’”
During season 11 of Southern Charm, which is currently airing on Bravo, viewers have watched Craig, 37, pursue Charley, 28, following his split from Paige DeSorbo.
One roadblock in the pair’s relationship, however, appeared to be costar Salley Carson, who also had feelings for Craig at one point.
“It seems like no matter what happens, you can always count on Salley to be, like, right there,” Craig shared in a recent episode. “I genuinely believe that if Salley wasn’t involved, that me and Charley would probably be further along.”
Unfortunately for Craig, a cast trip to Mexico resulted in the Bravo reality star screaming at Salley, 31, in a van ride back to the hotel.
The tense moment left Charley uninterested in pursuing a romantic relationship with Craig.
“I’m thankful that I had a friendship with Craig before trying to explore anything romantically,” Charley explained on the March 4 edition of the Southern Charm After Show. “And I’m confident that, you know, me pumping the brakes on us romantically is not ruining our friendship. It was just very obvious to me in that moment that … this is not, like, someone that I want to be, like, romantically involved with right now.”
Southern Charm airs on Bravo Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET. Stream new episodes the next day on Peacock.
