Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir are two peas in a pod.
Lipinski, 43, and Weir, 41, showed off their matching Hermès Birkin bags during a Tuesday, March 10, episode of the “Chicks in the Office” podcast. In a clip shared via TikTok, the Olympic ice skaters were seen flaunting their ivory purses while opening up about how they got the same design.
“Funny story,” Weir began. “I’ve been a collector for a while and I love Birkin bags — it’s like, the one thing I understand as far as an investment is concerned. If I ever need them, they’re sitting there.”
He continued with a laugh, “It’s an investment! I don’t sell them though.” Weir explained, “Skating is really big in Japan and I had an Hermès [sales associate] in the Ginza shop and I was going in to pick one up during the Olympics in Tokyo and Tara went with me.” Weir noted that Lipinski hasn’t yet “dove into” Birkin bags, to which she added, “I was like, ‘This is too much of a purchase.’ It was overwhelming.”
After being taken into a back room where Lipinski saw “the process” of viewing Birkin bags, she became interested.
“Wow, this is fancy,” Lipinski recalled. “Chocolates are coming out, I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness.’” The former competitive figure skater then told the sales associate that she wanted a “matching” Birkin bag with Weir.

Weird shared that in Japan, the store only gets a “limited” number of bags in “certain colors.” The cream hue that Weir and Lipinski chose was a “seasonal color.”
“My guy was able to source [another] one. There were like six of this color in the whole country,” Weir said.
Fans were quick to gush over the besties’ twinning moment in the comments section.
“It’s giving ‘that’s my best friend, go best friend’ ????,” one wrote, while a second gushed, “ICONIC BESTIES.” A third commented, “OK iconic.”
Lipinski and Weir also showed off their matching looks via Instagram on Tuesday. In a reel, they swung their Birkins around while wearing ivory outfits.
“It started with matching outfits…now we’re just becoming the same person. It’s better this way,” Lipinski captioned the post.
