The Luka Dončić dating rumor mill has started and Madelyn Cline is at the center of it, just two days after the Los Angeles Lakers star announced his split from fiancée Anamaria Goltes.
When fans noticed that Dončić, 27, and the Outer Banks actress followed each other on Instagram, the chatter started — because surely there’s no other reason for two people to follow each other on social media.
But don’t get carried away. TMZ reported on Thursday, March 12 that not only are the two not dating, they’ve never even met.
Dončić confirmed to ESPN on Tuesday, March 10 that he and Goltes, 28, had broken off their engagement. The former couple has known each other since childhood and began dating in 2016. They share two daughters, Gabriela, 2, and Olivia, 3 months.
“I love my daughters more than anything and I’ve been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the U.S. during the season, but that hasn’t been possible, so I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement,” Dončić said in a statement to ESPN.
He continued, “Everything I do is for my daughters’ happiness and I will always fight to be with them and give them the best life I can.”
Dončić and Goltes’ kids seem to be at the center of their rift. The NBA All-Star flew to Slovenia for Olivia’s birth in December, missing two games in the process. He allegedly had wanted to bring Gabriela back to the U.S. with him when he returned to the team, causing an argument with Goltes that ended with her calling the police, though no charges were filed.
“I don’t even know how to describe it,” Dončić told reporters when he rejoined the Lakers. “It was a lot. I was there for the birth of my daughter, so that means everything to me. But it was definitely a roller-coaster.”
In February, Dončić filed an interim injunction in a Slovenian court to seek immediate contact with his daughters, ESPN reported on Tuesday.
Also on Tuesday, Goltes filed a petition seeking child support and attorney fees from Dončić, according to documents obtained by Us Weekly.
As for Cline, 28, she was most recently linked to Prince Constantine-Alexios of Greece and Denmark. The two were seen kissing in an Instagram photo shared by DeuxMoi in September 2025, just days after they were spotted together outside a New York City eatery.
Rumors also swirled in February 2026 that Cline and longtime friend Lucas Gage were an item, but Cline quickly took to social media to throw cold water on the fan speculation.
