Boston Blue‘s St. Patrick’s Day-themed episode puts Lena through the wringer after she finds a dead body — and is shot at.
In Us Weekly‘s exclusive clip from the Friday, March 13, episode of the hit CBS show, Lena (Sonequa Martin-Green) arrives to meet someone named Connor, who is seemingly connected to a potential case. She can’t find him and instead overhears shots being fired.
Lena then proceeds to request a “patrol supervisor and some units” before she stumbles upon Connor’s car. He is dead at the scene, which causes Lena to redirect units after the suspect in the shooting aims at her next.
According to the official synopsis, Friday’s episode shows “Danny, Sarah and Lena race to stop a looming threat on St. Patrick’s Day.” Meanwhile, “homesickness sparks a family gathering and Lena’s personal life takes a hopeful turn.”
Martin-Green, 40, was introduced as Danny’s (Donnie Wahlberg) new partner when Boston Blue premiered in September 2025.
“We love the Reagans. We have all loved the Reagans for so long,” Martin-Green said in a statement after joining the show. “And I feel that we’ll love [Lena’s family] too. I’m super excited for this partnership, and to be back in a CBS family — and in this family, your family. It means a lot, and I’m grateful for it. I think we’re going to have a good time.”
Wahlberg, 56, offered insight into their dynamic, telling TV Insider that same month, “[Their connection] starts with an investigation that Lena’s working on, and Danny is allowed to help her due to the circumstance. It’s a phenomenal partnership, partially because they are both detectives from police families and it develops pretty quickly.”
He added: “They have this common thread where they can actually help each other and give each other perspective.”
In addition to Martin-Green’s Lena, Marcus Scribner plays her brother, Jonah, while Gloria Reuben is their mother, Mae. Ernie Hudson is their grandfather and Maggie Lawson is their stepsister, Sarah.
Ahead of Friday’s episode, Mika Amonsen teased exclusively to Us Weekly how the Silver family will continue to take center stage on the show.
“The cases continue to increase in their seriousness and in their difficulty,” he hinted. “The spotlight kind of shifts a bit away from Danny and Sean. We start focusing a little bit more on the Silvers —and we close out on some newer people being involved.”
He continued: “Without saying too much, there’s a few new kids. There’s several more characters that get introduced on both sides.”
