Both of Ed Sheeran’s best and worst days revolved around his wife, Cherry Seaborn.
Sheeran, 35, got candid about Seaborn, 33, being diagnosed with cancer during a Tuesday, March 10, episode of Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky and Kristin Batalucco’s “Friends Keep Secrets” podcast.
When asked what his “best” and “worst” days of his life were, Sheeran recalled the day Seaborn was diagnosed with cancer.
“Cherry rang me up and said she had cancer,” Sheeran recalled. “That was probably the worst day.” He noted that it was also “the worst week” of his life because his friend and collaborator Jamal Edwards died from a cardiac arrhythmia.
Batalucco then asked how Seaborn is doing today, nearly four years after her 2022 diagnosis.
“She’s fine,” Sheeran answered. “She had the operation — she was pregnant at the time — that was why it was difficult. She had the operation to remove the tumor after she’d given birth to our second child, and thankfully [she’s] totally fine.”
Sheeran went on to say that it was “f***ing scary” to hear about her diagnosis.
As for the best day of his life, Sheeran replied, “My wedding day.”
Sheeran and Seaborn, who tied the knot in 2019, share daughters Lyra, 5, and Jupiter, 3. Lil Dicky, 37, asked the “Bad Habits” singer whether he would want to have a son. Sheeran replied that he likes being a girl dad.
“You know what? I don’t know,” he said. “I don’t know. I think … I think maybe I’d want another girl, I think. I don’t know.”
Lil Dicky, whose real name is Andrew Burd, also questioned whether having a second child made traveling on tour difficult.

“I think if you have them close — I mean, I’m just going based on my experience, but having them close together was, like, really chaotic to begin,” Sheeran shared. “And then it’s, like, so good, because they just play together, bathe together and sleep together and school together, and everything’s, like, locked in.”
While Sheeran and Seaborn tend to keep their children and personal lives private, they occasionally update followers on their lives via social media.
In May 2022, he shared that Seaborn gave birth to their second daughter.
“Want to let you all know we’ve had another beautiful baby girl. We are both so in love with her, and over the moon to be a family of 4 x,” he captioned a post of a pair of infant socks.
