Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner are weighing in on Ray J’s claim that they colluded to release the infamous 2003 sex tape.
According to documents obtained by Us Weekly, Kardashian, 45, and Jenner, 70, filed declarations denying speculation that the sex tape was a “staged event.”
“[Ray J’s] claim that I had a plan with my mother and others to release a sex tape, defraud the public, and file a ‘fake’ lawsuit against the porn company that released it to ‘create buzz’ is a lie,” Kardashian said.
Jenner, meanwhile, argued that claims that she was in charge of the “release and commercial exploitation” of Kardashian’s sex tape are “absolutely false.”
Jenner said that she did not “make, encourage, or assist my daughter Kim in filming any sex tape or decide what tape to release, as Defendant further outrageously claimed in his cross-complaint. As a mother, the notion that I orchestrated or produced sex tapes involving my daughter, or was in any way involved in the creation or distribution of any sex tapes, is not only entirely untrue but deeply offensive and harmful and has haunted me for decades.”
She continued, “I was absolutely heartbroken, crushed and devastated as a mother to see my daughter in this situation where her most intimate and private moments were exposed to the world. In no world would I ever be involved in any way, shape, or form in peddling any tapes of my daughter like this. Defendant’s insinuations to the contrary are utterly false and disgusting.”
Kardashian and Jenner filed a lawsuit against Ray J in October 2025, accusing him of defamation. The next month, Us confirmed that Ray J filed a countersuit against Kardashian and Jenner and claimed that the previous lawsuit was “not about defamation,” but rather is about “publicity, power and punishment.”
Ray J alleged in his filing that Kardashian and Jenner had spent “two decades peddling the false story” that the sex tape was “leaked against her will.” He claimed that he and Kardashian “consensually” filmed themselves having sex while in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, alleging that the pair discussed releasing the tape together in 2006. (The former couple were together from 2003 to 2006.)
Ray J claimed that Kardashian “insisted” that her mother “be in charge of the tape’s release and commercial exploitation” and “watched” the original and their second tape filmed in Santa Barbara, California, before they “collectively decided” to release the Cabo tape.
He alleged that Kardashian and Jenner began “lying about their role in the tape’s release” when the mother-daughter duo and their family landed Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
Kardashian and Jenner’s attorney Alex Spiro told Us in a statement at the time, “After realizing he is losing the case and losing his way, this disjointed rambling distraction is not intimidating anyone. Ray J will lose this frivolous case too.”
