Long before signing up for Ladies of London: The New Reign, Margo Stilley said she was approached to be part of Southern Charm.
“I’m from South Carolina, and I was going to Charleston, and Whitney Sudler-Smith was there,” Margo, 43, exclusively shared with Us Weekly on Thursday, March 12. “He’s a friend of mine from London. Actually, that’s how we met. And we were there. We were staying at his house, and [his mom] Patricia [Altschu], she’s just so fabulous.”
Margo recalled Whitney, 57, telling her about a new show coming out called Southern Charm. The executive producer expressed interest in his friend being part of the series, which would focus on a group of adults living in Charleston, South Carolina.
“He was like, ‘You should be in this show with me,’” Margo claimed. “I just thought, ‘Well, I would love to, but I don’t live here. I live in London, and my whole life is in London, and my accent is gone.’ People don’t want to see me in South Carolina right now. It’s funny that Bravo found me eventually.”
Southern Charm ultimately premiered in 2014 and just aired its season 11 finale on Wednesday, March 11.
“I love the show,” Margo explained to Us. “The characters are, like, ‘Oh my God, my home.’ Maybe I’ll pop up in Charleston one day. That would be really fun.”
For now, Margo is happy to be part of Ladies of London: The New Reign.

Bravo’s new hit show follows a group of ladies who light up London’s elite social scene. The network previously teased that the power players redefine what it means to belong to high society in one of the most iconic cities in the world.
“Reality TV is so unpredictable. I’ve never worked in the genre before,” Margo shared with Us about her filming experience. “I actually had never really seen anything in the genre before, either. There’s just a lot of moving parts. Everything’s in real time. You don’t know what’s gonna happen in your own life. Do you want that on camera? At one point, we were filming and [my husband] picks up the phone and goes, ‘I don’t have time’ and hangs up. And I was like, ‘Oh my God, there’s so many people looking at me right now.’”
Welcome to the world of reality TV.
Now that the show is airing, Margo can’t help but pinch herself at where life has taken her.
“Driving through the dips and turns of Sunset Boulevard at night with the brightly lit billboards immortalizing lives just out of reach is an experience all on its own, but to find myself amongst them was nothing but surreal,” Margo wrote via Instagram on February 26 after finding herself on a billboard in the middle of Los Angeles. “I’m so grateful to be on this journey with my gorgeous, eccentric, iconic friends and frenemies. You’re the best part of it all ????.”
Ladies of London: The New Reign airs on Bravo Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET. Stream new episodes the next day on Peacock.
