Little People Big World alums Jacob and Isabel Roloff’s 4-year-old son, Mateo, was diagnosed with RSV.
“My sweet boy came down with RSV, and it sent us to the ER last night with his oxygen as low as 80 and his heart rate as high as 180,” Isabel, 29, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, March 8. “Is there anything more terrifying than seeing your kiddo not be able to breathe??”
She continued, “I am just so thankful he’s OK. We’re home and healing! Here’s to healthier days ahead.”
Isabel’s mother-in-law, Amy Roloff, subsequently sent her prayers for a quick recovery.
“Oh no! I hope Mateo is doing OK now and on the road to getting better,” Amy, 63, replied in the comments section.
Isabel gave birth to her son in 2021, two years after marrying Jacob, 29, in 2019. Jacob is one of the sons of Amy and her ex-husband, Matt Roloff. (Matt, 64, and Amy also share twins Jeremy and Zach, both 35, and daughter Molly, 32.)
After Isabel and Jacob’s son was discharged from the local hospital earlier this week, they’ve been managing his care at home. RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) causes infections of the lungs and respiratory tract and is common in kids and older adults, according to the Mayo Clinic.
“Just two tired parents who have a kiddo sick with RSV, have had a lack of sleep for weeks, and a big ole farm that will need our full attention in just a few short months,” Isabel wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, March 10. “We need a date night (or 10 ????) to make up for how busy we’ve both been.”
Isabel lives with Jacob on his dad’s Roloff Farm in Oregon. (Amy sold her shares of the property to Matt when they divorced.)
“I can’t wait to see the gardens we grow this year, the memories we make this summer, and the ways we get more involved in our community together,” Isabel added on Tuesday. “I say we’re busy now. Oh, just you wait, honey. With big dreams and a lot of work, we’ll make it happen.”
Jacob and Isabel do not own the farm, instead living on the property as tenants.
“[Jacob] didn’t [get the farm]. We live on the property along with Matt, who owns it still,” Isabel explained of their living arrangements in a November 2025 video shared via TikTok. “We rent our house and Jacob works here full-time. I care for the animals. Jacob also grows the produce, vegetables, fruit and this year he grew 60,000 lbs of pumpkins.”
