Serena Pitt and Joe Amabile revealed they were almost part of a surprising franchise jump from ABC to Bravo.
The Bachelor Nation couple said they were contacted by producers to appear on the Summer House spinoff, In the City, during the Wednesday, March 11, episode of their “Not Married to This” podcast.
Amabile, 39, shared that he and Pitt, 28, got “a call” about the show. “We were almost on that. I don’t know if we were almost on it, but we had a call,” he clarified.
“When they were casting In the City, they had three different bundles of people, like three separate casts that they were looking at and we were part of one of the casts and they went with a different one which makes sense,” Pitt chimed in.
The topic got brought up when Amabile revealed that Summer House is his reality TV guilty pleasure.
They both agreed this season feels a bit “darker” because of the drama between estranged couple Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula. “I do just think, honestly, they are both going to be so much happier [not together],” Pitt said about their split. (Cooke, 43, and Batula, 34, announced their separation after four years of marriage in January, noting they “mutually and amicably decided to part ways as a couple.”)
Batula, Cooke and Lindsay Hubbard were confirmed as official members of the cast in November 2025. The remainder of the ensemble cast will be announced later, per Bravo.
As for what fans can expect, “In the city that never sleeps, a group of New Yorkers navigate the biggest transitions of their lives — marriage, parenthood, reinvention and the reality of growing up without growing apart,” In the City’s official logline reads. “Can they have it all, or will they need to choose between the lives they’ve built and the futures they never saw coming?”
Pitt noted that In the City is going to air after Summer House, which she speculates will show how Cooke and Batula’s “separation come to be.” Their marriage was put to the test in the trailer for Summer House season 10, which was taped in 2025, and premiered in February 2026.
Cooke recently addressed rumors about the former couple’s breakup, denying speculation that he had been unfaithful.
“It’s tough, there’s so much noise,” he said during a Watch What Happens Live interview on Wednesday, March 10. “I feel bad [Batula]’s had to deal with that. I can tell you I was not physically or emotionally unfaithful.”
