A Florida deputy was arrested after authorities said he accessed law enforcement databases to locate a woman he met while working a security job on the set of “Bad Monkey,” a TV show featuring actor Vince Vaughn.
The now-former Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputy, Lamar Eliseo Roman, was fired in addition to his arrest on Tuesday, March 10, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post that same day.
Roman, 28, has been charged with misuse of law enforcement computers, computer networks, and electronic devices, according to the sheriff’s office.
The agency said that he “used law enforcement databases to look up information for personal reasons beyond the legal scope of his employment as a Deputy.”
An attorney was not listed for Roman in court records viewed by Us Weekly on Friday, March 13.
While working a security position on the “Bad Monkey” set in the Florida Keys, Roman “began whistling” at a woman who arrived as an extra on February 3, according to a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office warrant report obtained by WPLG.
Roman spoke with the woman and started “flirting and joking” with her, according to the report viewed by the TV station. She reportedly informed him she had a boyfriend.
The report also says that Roman “stated something along the lines of, ‘I need your name and number just in case I pull you over someday,’” according to the TV station.
Roman went on to search the woman in state databases, including the Florida Driver and Vehicle Information Database and the Florida Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center, so he could allegedly track her license plate for when it was detected by license plate readers, according to court filings, the TV station reported.
He repeatedly accessed databases to look up information on the woman multiple times in a day, according to his arrest report viewed by the Miami Herald.
On February 19, Roman allegedly drove out into oncoming traffic while following the woman’s car on U.S. 1 before he pulled her over, the report says, according to the newspaper.
While speaking with authorities, the woman reported that during the traffic stop, Roman approached her window and said, “I told you I’d find you and pull you over,” and that “I was hoping your boyfriend was in the car so I can pull him out and give him a hard time,” according to the report obtained by the Miami Herald.
Roman is due in court for an arraignment on March 26, court records show.
In a statement on his arrest, Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay said, “I am committed to keeping this community informed of significant events that occur in this agency — good and bad.”
