Just call him Walter Wrong.
A former college dean is facing serious criminal allegations after being arrested in Indiana on drug charges.
On the street, Alan White was known as “The Professor.” For years, police had been investigating White, who cops purposely likened to a famous drug dealer from the show Breaking Bad.
“He’s definitely no Walter White,” Clarksville Police Chief Nathan Walls said in a news release.
White is a former professor at Indiana University Southeast. He was arrested 10 years ago in Louisville, Kentucky, when police found drugs inside his car.
“Suffice to say that he obviously remained in his criminal activities,” Officer Justice Kraft offered to WDRB.
“They have been looking at Mr. White for a long time,” he said. “I’m very confident in our narcotics detectives. They do a very good job, and this is not their first rodeo.”
In a news release, the Clarksville Police Department said White, 59, was arrested after officers executed a search warrant at his home on March 7. Cops rolled up to his home and saw White driving away from the home. Officers caught up with him and made a traffic stop just after 9:30 p.m. and arrested him without incident.
Investigators recovered plastic bags with a “crystal like substance” that was later identified as methamphetamine.
One of the bags was found hidden in his ceiling tiles with some counterfeit cash.
All told, police recovered close to 78 grams of suspected methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia and the fake money.
For the unfamiliar, Breaking Bad was an award-winning television drama that aired for five seasons on AMC.
The show starred Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher faced with the prospect of serious medical debt after receiving a cancer diagnosis. During a ride along with his DEA agent brother-in-law, White spots a former student fleeing from a drug raid. White later convinces his old pupil to cook crystal meth with him.
White, a once-decent father, becomes a ruthless drug dealer whose product dominates the New Mexico drug market. The show was nominated for more than 250 awards and won more than 90 of them. Many consider Breaking Bad to be among the best television shows ever created.
“The Professor” has been charged with dealing methamphetamine, counterfeiting and possession of paraphernalia, police said.
“This is yet another example of the dedication of our officers,” Walls boasted in a news release. “Working long investigations can be tedious at times, and I think this really showcases our patience.”
WDRB knocked at White’s door to ask him about the allegations, but he would not sit for an on-camera interview.
However, he apparently did tell the reporter at his door that the police had arrested the wrong man.
Attempts to reach him by phone were unsuccessful Friday, March 13.
White is next scheduled to appear in court May 11.
