Ed Harris and Amy Madigan are not only partners in life but work as well.
Harris and Madigan first connected in 1981 when they worked on the play Prairie Avenue in Los Angeles. Two years later, the pair worked together on the film Places in the Heart. While working on the movie, Harris and Madigan fell in love and tied the knot in November 1983. They welcomed daughter Lily in 1993.
Following their nuptials, Madigan and Harris continued to work together on multiple projects including Alamo Bay, Pollock, Gone Baby Gone, The Rules Don’t Apply and more.
”If we’re not working together … you can’t really talk about your day very well,” Harris said of working with his wife in a 1985 interview with the Chicago Tribune. “When you’re working together, though, there’s so much that is shared, so much unspoken thought and emotion that goes into the work, that it really draws you closer.”
The couple have continued to support each other all the years. Harris was by Madigan’s side following the success of her film Weapons. He cheered her on as she took home multiple awards including at the 2026 Oscars when she won the trophy for Best Supporting Actress.
