New details are emerging about an alleged incident involving Jenelle Evans’ 16-year-old son, Jace, and her mom, Barbara Evans.
In 911 audio obtained by Us Weekly from the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, Barbara can be heard saying she needs someone to come talk to her “immediately.”
“My grandson is on probation. He is destroying my house. He had a gun to his head … and I’m up here,” Barbara said on the call before becoming emotional. “He’s screaming at me. He’s trying to hurt me.”
Barbara then said through tears that she wanted officers to “come out and talk to me,” because “he’ll destroy the rest of my house.”
Us Weekly reached out to Jenelle for comment.
TMZ reported earlier this month that Jace was placed in a mental health facility after the incident in February, which allegedly occurred when Jace was allegedly under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
“At this time, we respectfully ask for privacy for the family and Jenelle Evans,” a rep for Jenelle told Page Six. “This is a personal matter, and space and understanding are appreciated as they focus on their well-being and time together. Thank you for respecting their privacy during this time.”
Jenelle’s sister, Ashleigh, denied the alleged incident in a social media statement shared on March 10.
“My nephew did not pull a firearm out on his grandmother or himself,” she wrote via X. “That is a lie. None of that [is] true… who[ever] keeps fabricating these lies is a sick person. The police never found a gun in my mother’s house. That is a straight up lie. [It’s] most likely my sister selling the story because she’s angry. She’s losing control.”
Jenelle, meanwhile, responded by calling Barbara and her sister “the enemy.” (Jenelle resides in Las Vegas with her two younger children, while Jace has been living with Barbara in North Carolina.)
Barbara later made headlines when she filed two motions on Wednesday, March 11 — one for emergency child custody and one to modify child custody — according to court documents obtained by The Ashley.
Us learned that the next court date is a temporary court hearing — not a hearing for emergency custody. Barbara allegedly appeared for the emergency custody hearing without Jenelle’s lawyer present and without notifying Jenelle or her legal team. The motion was ultimately denied.
“My mom was denied her recent request for emergency custody,” Jenelle exclusively told Us on Sunday, March 15. “I still have sole and physical custody of Jace.”
Barbara, for her part, responded to the court denying her emergency custody, telling TMZ on Monday, March 16, “It doesn’t matter that it was denied, because I’m going to court on March 23rd for a temporary custody hearing. The evidence will be presented then.” She also claimed that Jace’s father, Andrew Lewis, will be presenting evidence.
