Sunny Hostin is addressing her recent voice change on The View.
“Let me address my voice first, because people are noticing. I have some vocal cord nodules, apparently on my voice,” Hostin, 57, shared on the Monday, March 16, episode of the “Behind the Table” podcast. “This started in December when I went away and was in a very arid place, very dry. I didn’t drink enough water!”
After doing some research, Hostin discovered that the medical condition sometimes happens to singers and “people that talk for a living, which is what I do.” (Before becoming a cohost on The View, Hostin was a full-time lawyer.)
“I’ve seen one doctor, who thought it was either surgery, a month or less of vocal rest or maybe injections,” she told podcast host and The View executive producer Brian Teta. “I don’t like those answers.”
When Hostin went to ChatGPT to search for answers, she received “similar advice.”
“[My husband] Manny is setting me up with a second opinion and hopefully ChatGPT MD is wrong, and the first doctor is wrong,” Hostin shared. “And maybe there’s a throat coat thing that I can use [or] a tea that can get rid of it.”
While many factors likely contributed to Hostin’s changing voice, the New York Times bestselling author admitted that she wasn’t exactly quiet over the weekend.
In addition to attending a New Edition concert and singing her heart out, Hostin also supported Martha Stewart’s new restaurant at the Foxwoods Resort Casino.
“They’ve gotten buff. They’re good looking, man,” Hostin said when giving her unofficial concert review. “New Edition had all kinds of outfits. It’s an incredible show.”
To top it all off, the attorney found herself screaming at the TV screen in excitement when Michael B. Jordan won best actor at the 2026 Oscars on Sunday, March 15, for his role in Sinners.
When advised to rest up this weekend after another week of shows, Hostin pointed out, “I think I have a speaking engagement this weekend.”
The show, ultimately, must go on. On Tuesday’s episode of The View, Hostin was joined by Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar and guest cohost Carly Fiorina to discuss a variety of Hot Topics.
In addition to debating Teyana Taylor’s reaction to Amy Madigan’s Oscar win and President Donald Trump’s latest comments on the Iran war, Hostin also got to sit down with guest Sarah Michelle Gellar.
