Numerous couples on Secret Lives of Mormon Wives have been going through some changes — but where does each couple stand before season 5?
When The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives debuted on Hulu in September 2024, viewers were introduced to Jen Affleck and husband Zac Affleck, Demi Engemann and husband Bret Engemann, Whitney Leavitt and husband Conner Leavitt, Mikayla Matthews and husband Jace Terry, Mayci Neeley and husband Jacob Neeley, Jessi Ngatikaura and husband Jordan Ngatikaura, Taylor Frankie Paul and then-partner Dakota Mortensen and Layla Taylor. (Miranda Hope, meanwhile, joined the show in season 2 after her split from Chase McWhorter.)
The decision to film their lives came easy to the Utah content creators a.k.a. MomTok — but the same couldn’t be said for their respective partners. Taylor specifically dealt with the negative side effects of filming her relationship when the season 1 premiere ended with footage from her arrest for domestic violence.
In the years since documenting their relationship for the show, Taylor and Dakota weathered many challenges. Days after season 4 premiered on Hulu in March 2026, news broke that Mormon Wives allegedly halted production after Taylor and Dakota were involved in a domestic violence dispute while filming.

Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen
Throughout the seasons, Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen have been consistently off-and-on while coparenting their son, Ever. Season 4 documented Taylor preparing to lead The Bachelorette season 22 but it remains unclear if she ended up with someone. After filming wrapped, a spokesperson for the Draper City Police Department confirmed that there is an open “domestic assault investigation” involving the pair.
They are currently not dating.
Jessi and Jordan Ngatikaura
Jessi Ngatikaura’s marriage was called into question when Vanderpump Villa‘s Marciano Brunette claimed they had an affair. Jessi denied the allegations but later admitted she had an emotional connection with Marciano that ended. She then tried to work out her issues with Jordan — with the pair still figuring out the next steps in their marriage.
Whitney and Conner Leavitt
Whitney Leavitt and Conner Leavitt dealt with infidelity issues before season 1. Since then, the couple, who share three kids, have worked on their marriage and are in a good place after relocating to New York for Whitney’s Broadway run.
Demi and Bret Engemann
Demi Engemann was also accused of being unfaithful with Vanderpump Villa‘s Marciano Brunette, which she has denied. Bret was later accused of sleeping with someone else when his wife was out of town but the couple have remained a united front amid the drama.
Demi accused Marciano of sexual misconduct and he subsequently sued her for defamation. Demi played a smaller role in season 4 and her future on the show is unclear.
Jen and Zac Affleck
The first season highlighted the challenges in Jen Affleck and Zac Affleck’s marriage, which eventually led to an offscreen separation. They got back together amid her third pregnancy and they welcomed daughter Penelope in July 2025.

After welcoming their fourth baby, Mikayla Matthews and Jace Terry decided to separate during season 4 of the hit Hulu series. Mikayla hinted that more context would be provided in season 5 as she continued to navigate the problems in her marriage.
Mayci and Jacob Neeley
The duo, who have been married since 2018, are parents of three and Mayci Neeley confirmed they had one embryo left.
Layla Taylor and Mason McWhorter
The duo called it quits between seasons 4 and 5.
