Taylor Frankie Paul’s relationship with ex-husband Tate Paul has been thrust into the spotlight after her alleged domestic dispute with ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen.
Taylor and Tate are no strangers to scandal after their life as “soft swingers” became public knowledge in 2022. That summer, the couple divorced, but they continued to maintain a good coparenting relationship.
“I just respect his privacy a lot, and I know that’s what he likes,” Taylor exclusively told Us Weekly in her March 2026 cover story. “But he and I have always been really good friends and [have a] very healthy coparenting relationship.”
That relationship, however, faced another bump in the road after news broke that same month that Taylor was allegedly involved in a domestic violence dispute with Dakota, whom she began dating on and off after her divorce.
A source confirmed to Us on March 19, 2026, that Dakota filed for a protective order in Utah against Taylor, with whom he shares one child.
The restraining order against Taylor — which prompted ABC to cancel her season of The Bachelorette — has shined a spotlight on her previous relationships, including her dynamic with Tate.

Taylor Frankie Paul and Tate Paul Were Soft Swingers
Taylor Frankie Paul made headlines in June 2022 when she revealed in a viral TikTok video that she was part of a “soft-swinging” scandal involving the Mormon MomTok community.
Taylor confirmed that her then-husband, Tate Paul, was part of a group of young couples who would swap partners. Taylor explained during the livestream that both she and Tate had an agreement that allowed them to be intimate with other people, with some restrictions.
Tate Paul married Taylor Frankie Paul in 2016. The couple called it quits in 2022 after six years of marriage in the wake of their soft-swinging scandal.
In June 2022, Taylor revealed in a TikTok video that part of the reason for their divorce was that she crossed a line in their soft-swinging agreement by going “all the way” with another man.

One year after they walked down the aisle, Taylor Frankie Paul and then-husband Tate Paul welcomed their first baby. Their daughter, Indy, was born in August 2017. The pair’s second baby, son Ocean, arrived in June 2020.
Tate Paul Is Married to Bailey Paul
Taylor Frankie Paul revealed in September 2024 that Tate Paul was in a new relationship. “My ex is doing great as far as I know,” she told Distractify at the time. “I love him and his partner, [who is his] fiancée, I believe.”
Tate has since married Bailey Paul, but the exact date of their wedding is unknown. In May 2024, Tate called Bailey his “partner” in an Instagram tribute. The following spring, he identified her as his “wife” in a Mother’s Day post.
Tate and Bailey share one child, whose name they have kept private.
Following his divorce from Taylor Frankie Paul, Tate Paul remained in Utah to coparent their two children. While he keeps his career private, Tate has shared music remixes on SoundCloud and TikTok.
Tate’s wife, Bailey Paul, has her own business in Kaysville, Utah. She is an aesthetician specializing in “lash lifts, brows and waxing,” according to her professional Instagram page.
