The latest episode of Storage Wars: Back to the Locker included a tribute to late series personality Darrell Sheets just days after his untimely death.
The Saturday, April 25, episode of the A+E docuseries ended with a title card that read “In Memoriam Darrell Sheets” alongside the dates of Sheets’ birth and death.
Us Weekly confirmed on Wednesday, April 22, that Sheets died by apparent suicide. He was 67.
“On April 22, 2026, at approximately 0200 hours, officers with the Lake Havasu City Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 1500 block of Chandler Drive in reference to a reported deceased individual,” a statement from Arizona’s Lake Havasu City Police Department read. “Upon arrival, officers located a male subject who suffered from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The male was pronounced deceased on scene, and the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit was notified and responded to the scene to assume the investigation.”
Sheets was known as “The Gambler,” appearing on Storage Wars between 2010 and 2023. On the show, cast members like Sheets bid on abandoned and unopened storage lockers in auctions.
“We are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family, Darrell ‘The Gambler’ Sheets,” a spokesperson for A&E told Us on Wednesday. “Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Sheets, who is survived by his two children, had previously been candid about his mental health struggles.
“Depression is the Devil’s way of attacking us,” Sheets wrote via Instagram in June 2018. “It knows no mercy, it takes our smiles it comes and goes, it ruins our relationships, it takes away our happiness, it leads to suicide in some cases, it destroys all thoughts of positivity, it is a 24/7 battle and allows no rest for the suffering.”
Sheets later claimed that he was cyberbullied in the months before his death.
“He was impersonating him with phone calls, messages, emails, websites … He flat out said, ‘I’m gonna ruin you,” Sheets’ onscreen rival Rene Nezhoda exclusively told Us on Friday, April 24 regarding the accusations. “I mean, all you have to do is go to Darrell’s last few messages on Facebook. He kind of withdrew from social media.”

Several of Sheets and Nezhoda’s costars have also claimed to receive bullying messages online.
“We’ve all had a little bit of that,” Dave Hester told Us on Friday in a separate interview. “We’ve been at this [for] 16, 17 years, and so there’s always people [who] want to get on the internet and say rude things, but I don’t even pay attention to it.”
