Saturday Night Live writer Jimmy Fowlie is sharing an update on his missing sister, Christina Lynn Downer.
“The LAPD has informed our family that Christina is no longer alive, and the case has officially transitioned from a missing person to a homicide investigation,” Fowlie wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, April 29. “Our prayers for her to be found safely have transformed into prayers for the truth to be revealed and for those responsible to be held accountable.”
In December 2025, Fowlie first asked for the public’s help in locating his missing sister.
“My sister has been missing and we are worried that she isn’t safe,” he wrote via Instagram at the time. “Her married name is Downer but she may go by Christina Fowlie. Please share this so that if anyone has seen her, they can give any information to the police.”
Fowlie listed a phone number to contact police and a case number before confirming his sister was last seen in Los Angeles.
“We have reason to believe that in the weeks before she went missing, her phone and social media were compromised. The individual(s) in possession of her phone used it to hide the fact she was gone, to ask for money and to create a false narrative that she was going ‘off the grid,'” Fowlie claimed in his latest update. “I am sharing this because I believe that whoever is responsible is hoping to erase her in every way possible. I want to amplify her story in the only way I know how. And to express that she was a beautiful person who matters in this world, especially to me.”
Fowlie encouraged followers of the case to share his latest Instagram post to spread awareness. He also urged anyone with information to go to the Los Angeles Police Department as takes a social media beak “due to the intense overwhelming feelings.”
“I believe there is a chance that someone who knows something might find the courage to step forward,” he added. “My sister can no longer advocate for herself, but I can and I hope you will too.”
Back in December, Fowlie shared key details about his sister that could potentially help locate her.
“Christina is very attached to her dog Rex. He’s a min pin and if you see her, chances are he’d be with her,” he wrote via Instagram in December 2025. “Last seen in Koreatown. I heard from her on Nov 26th. She was active on social media up to Dec 15th. At this time the detectives have advised us not to share certain details so we don’t compromise the case.”
The Los Angeles Police Department also issued a press release confirming authorities are looking for Downer.
According to officials, Downer was last contacted on December 10, 2025 via a text message with a friend.
“The family wants the public to be aware that Christina Downer has no known medical conditions and has not gone missing before,” police shared. “Christina Downer is described as a 38-year-old female with black hair and brown eyes. She stands five feet one inch tall and weighs approximately 115 pounds.”
Downer’s image spread online and through social media after several celebrities shared Fowlie’s posts.
Saturday Night Live stars Bowen Yang, Sarah Sherman and Chloe Fineman all helped raise awareness, as well as Ariana Madix, Angie Harmon, Amy Schumer, Casey Wilson, Wendi McLendon-Covey and more stars.
“LA friends, please repost,” Vanderpump Rules alum Scheana Shay previously wrote via her Instagram Story.
The encouragement and support did not go unnoticed by Fowlie and his family.
“Thank you to everyone who has gotten the word out,” he previously wrote via Instagram. “I’ll share updates as I get them. If you do have any information, please contact LAPD 213-996-1800. Thank you.”

Fowlie started writing for Saturday Night Live back in 2022 and has worked on a variety of sketches, including the viral “Domingo” skit, originally titled “Domingo: Bridesmaid Speech.”
