James Maslow’s girlfriend, Caitlin Spears, is no longer looking for a boyfriend — she has a fiancé.
The Big Time Rush singer, 34, popped the question to his longtime love at Hotel Cetus in Cetara, Italy, on the Amalfi Coast on May 8. “I wanted this moment to be 100 percent about Caitlin, so I booked a trip to the Amalfi Coast for just us, told (almost) nobody, and enlisted the help of a random hotel and a few other Italian strangers to pull off a pretty amazing and romantic moment, if I do say so myself,” Maslow exclusively told Us Weekly of the engagement.
He added, “The rest of the vacation has finally felt like a vacation for me now too.”
Spears, for her part, told Us she was “so shocked” that Maslow was “able to actually surprise me.” The certified health coach shared, “It was truly a breathtaking moment and one of the most magical moments of my life. He did good … very good!”
The couple looked as gorgeous as the Italian coast for the milestone, with Maslow dressing in a chic navy suit, black loafers, white dress shirt and a matching white pocket square. Spears, meanwhile, radiated bridal energy in a flowy white sundress and metallic heels, which she paired with a pearl necklace and gold jewelry.
With his engagement, Maslow is following in the footsteps of his Big Time Rush bandmates Carlos PenaVega and Kendall Schmidt, who are married to Alexa PenaVega and Micaela Von Turkovich, respectively. The group’s fourth member, Logan Henderson, is currently single.
Maslow and Spears shared their first Instagram posts with each other in 2019. “Happy 29 years of life to this boy ???? #happybirthday,” Spears captioned a selfie of the pair that July.
Two months later, Maslow twinned with Spears in all-black outfits in his first Instagram post with his then-girlfriend. Poking fun at his tiger-print socks, he wrote, “Damn that sock game is strong ????????Also, for those of you wondering, yes @caitlinsheyspears brings a wind machine everywhere she goes. She’s basically Beyoncé ????????♂️.”
The couple are also dog parents to two adorable pups, Posey and Macie. Before Us broke their engagement, Maslow shared a trio of romantic selfies from his and Spears’ Italy trip via Instagram.
“Postcard from Amalfi Coast ????????????,” he captioned the snaps, which were taken with a backdrop of a picturesque coastal town.
Spears also teased their engagement looks in an Instagram video on Tuesday, May 13. “What’s your favorite outfit? ????????✨❤️☕️,” she asked her followers in the caption.
Maslow got his big break starring as James Diamond on the Nickelodeon series Big Time Rush, which ran for four seasons from 2009 to 2013. He has continued to act over the years, appearing in projects such as See Dad Run, Stars Fell on Alabama, iCarly and Holiday Twist, and has released music both as a solo singer and with Big Time Rush.
