Teen Mom 2 alum Jenelle Evans dated Andrew Lewis for two years before breaking up after welcoming with their son, Jace.
“He was more interested in partying with his friends and getting drunk than spending time with his pregnant girlfriend,” Evans claimed of Lewis in her 2017 memoir, Between the Lines. “Not to mention he was broker than f*** and didn’t have a job. What in the heck did I ever see in him?”
Evans and Lewis initially connected online, ending their romantic relationship for good shortly after Jace was born in 2009. While Evans primarily raised her son alone, news broke in May 2025 that Jace left Evans’ home and moved in with his father.
“We’ve tried everything we could,” Evans said in a TikTok video, citing Jace’s mental health struggles as the reason for him moving out of her primary residence. “Right now, he needs to be in a situation where both households are safe.”

The Start of Their High School RomanceEvans and Lewis, who have a six-year age difference, first connected via the internet.
“We met online and talked through messages for a couple of weeks,” she wrote in her 2017 memoir. “Just after my birthday in December, we finally met in person.”
She added, “He came and got what he wanted from me, when he wanted it, and I waited for him to tell me what to do. We had to talk when he wanted to talk, no matter the odd hours. We had to go out when he wanted to go out. We did what he wanted to do.”
Jenelle Claims Andrew ‘Wasn’t Interested in Having a Kid’ — And Moved AwayBefore Evans’ pregnancy was chronicled on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant, she informed Lewis that they were expecting. Per her book, Lewis allegedly “put on a smile to make [her] happy.”
“In my gut I could feel that he wasn’t interested in having a kid,” Evans wrote. “I knew then he wouldn’t stick around. And he didn’t.”
A 2017 special of Teen Mom reported that Lewis was living in New York City while Evans was back in her hometown of North Carolina.
Andrew Allegedly Kept in Touch With Jace Through the Years
Evans further claimed in her memoir that Lewis “signed away” his parental rights at an undisclosed time.
“He never comes to see his son, though he still calls and says he wants to,” she wrote. “It just never happens. … He signed away his custody, and I don’t know if he will ever be in his son’s life again.”
Two years later, Lewis was name-dropped on an episode of Teen Mom 2 when an executive producer claimed they received a text from Lewis, asking to meet with Evans and Jace.
Jace ran away from Evans’ home multiple times in 2023, amid alleged issues with her then-husband, David Eason. After news broke of Jace’s disappearance, Lewis publicly reached out.
“Jace, you’re 14 years old, and I heard that you ran away twice,” Lewis said in a video obtained by The Sun. “[Jenelle and her mom] said that once you turn a teenager, I would be allowed to talk to you. Well, now’s the time, you ran away. I tried to get in touch with your mom and I tried to get in touch with your grandma, and still no availability after 14 years.”
He added, “So I’m just letting you know since the only way I can reach out to you is the media. Want to talk, want to see me, want to zoom, whatever you want. I’m right here, and always will be.”
Us Weekly broke the news in March 2023 that Evans was granted full custody of Jace nearly a decade after she handed over his care to her mother, Barbara.
“My mom and I decided together to grant full custody back to me because we want to build our relationship back as mother and daughter,” Evans told Us at the time. “Also, my mother agrees it’s time for Jace to be back with his siblings and living with a mother and father. She also thinks it’s important for Jace to be around a father figure to learn ‘boy things’ and have ‘men talk.’ She has seen the way David parents my children and she knows we’re able to handle it. We want to all get along for the sake of the children and like I said before, building back our relationship as mother and daughter.”
In addition to Jace, Evans shares son Kaiser with Nathan Griffith and daughter Ensley with Eason.
Jace’s MoveIn a May 2025 TikTok video, Evans defended her decision to allow Jace to move to Florida to live with his father.
“You guys are looking at it as a negative situation, but everyone behind closed doors is looking at it as a positive thing for him,” she said. “You can say all you want. You can say I’m not taking care of my kids. Being a mother is doing the best interest for your child and I am doing the best interest for my child.”
Evans, who lives in Las Vegas, noted that Jace went to Florida to help deal with his mental health challenges.
“He was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 10 and most recently, in 2023, he was also diagnosed with major depressive disorder along with his ADHD and defiant disorder or ODD,” she said. “With defiant disorder, it’s very hard to deal with. Kids act out on purpose because they want attention. They have no remorse. They have no empathy for what they did.”
