The NFL’s Indianapolis Colts were forced to delete their 2025 schedule release video after it stirred controversy with some fans.
In the Minecraft-themed video, released on Wednesday, May 14, a dolphin wearing the jersey of Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill got pulled over by the Coast Guard.
“We removed our schedule release video because it exceeded our rights with Microsoft and included an insensitive clip involving Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill,” the Dolphins organization said in a statement to ESPN on Thursday, May 15. “We sincerely apologize to Microsoft and Tyreek.”
Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said his client didn’t have an issue with the video. “He laughed about it and didn’t think they needed to take it down on his account,” Rosenhaus, 58, told ESPN.
The clip was a reference to an incident involving Hill, 31, in September 2024, when he was pulled over by police officers while driving to the Dolphins season opener just hours before the game.
In a video that spread all over social media, Hill was seen being detained in handcuffs and forced to the ground by a group of law enforcement members. .
Hill received a ticket for reckless driving and made it to Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium in time to play in the game.
“What happened today to Tyreek at the stadium is completely unacceptable,” Hill’s agent said in a statement to Us Weekly after the incident. “Tyreek did not deserve to be treated that way by the police involved.”
During his postgame press conference, Hill said he was “still trying to put it all together.”
“I still don’t know what happened,” he told reporters. “But I do want to be able to use this platform to say, what if I wasn’t Tyreek Hill? Like, worst case scenario. It’s crazy. I’ve got a lot of respect for cops [but] everybody has bad apples, in every situation.”
Hill added that he did not provoke law enforcement officials, insisting he “wasn’t disrespectful” and “didn’t curse.”
The day after the incident, the Miami-Dade Police Department announced the police officer responsible for detaining Hill had been placed on administrative leave.
“Following the incident involving Tyreek Hill, I have initiated an Internal Affairs investigation to ensure a thorough review of the matter,” Miami-Dade Police Department Director Stephanie V. Daniels said in a statement. “One of the officers involved in the incident has been placed on administrative duties while the investigation is conducted.”
The statement continued, “I’m committed to transparency and accountability to the community with any situation involving my officers.”
