Prince Harry and Meghan Markle hosted Brooklyn Beckham and wife Nicola Peltz for a group dinner at their home in Montecito, California, it’s been reported.
A source told People on Thursday, May 15 that the Peltz-Beckhams were invited to the “intimate gathering” before the drama blew up around their non-attendance at David Beckham’s 50th birthday celebrations — and said that the timing is “pure coincidence.”
The source went on to say that other guests were film executives and VIPs. “Brooklyn and Nicola had a wonderful time and found Harry and Meghan to be particularly kind, caring and generous,” they said.
As significant members of two of the most talked about families on the planet right now, the couples have more in common than it first appears — and who wouldn’t love to be a fly on the wall at that get-together?
The Sun also reported that the Sussexes have offered “unwavering support” to the Peltz-Beckhams as they navigate their ongoing family tension.
A source exclusively told Us Weekly on May 8 that there’s been “bad blood” since before Nicola and Brooklyn got married in April 2022.
“Things never really got smoothed over, and you can tell it still affects everyone,” the source explained. “The tension is still present and it’s hard for Brooklyn at times. Brooklyn’s having a tough time with it. He’s super stubborn and just wants space from his family right now.”
Prince Harry and Meghan moved to Montecito from the U.K. in 2020 when they stepped down from their duties as senior working royals. The move reportedly created a rift between the duo and the British royal family that deepened during the publication of Harry’s bestselling memoir, Spare, in 2023 as well as the prince’s legal battle for increased security protection in the U.K. (Harry lost his latest court appeal in May.)
“I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point,” he recently told the BBC. “I love my country, I always have done, despite what some people in that country have done.”
Harry added, “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family.”
The wider Beckham family and the royals go back a long way: in fact, Brooklyn, 26, has known Harry, 40, since his childhood, since, as two of the biggest stars in the U.K., David and wife Victoria, 51, were often invited to prestigious royal events. The couple even attended Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2018 and have previously spent time with them in California.
Lately, both the Sussexes and the Peltz-Beckhams have been enjoying busy social lives despite the ongoing drama in their families.
Brooklyn and Nicola had a “date night” at an AirBNB event on Tuesday, May 13, and were photographed smiling and kissing at the party in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan have been throwing themselves into the live music scene. On Friday, May 9, they attended Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour stop in L.A. and then on Tuesday, May 13, they went backstage at James Taylor’s show in Santa Barbara, California.
“In my concert era ❤️???? Thanks James!” Meghan captioned a Wednesday, May 14, Instagram carousel, which began with a snap of Taylor, 77, signing a copy of his 2018 children’s book Sweet Baby James for the mother of two. (The couple are parents to son Archie, 6, and daughter Lilibet, 4.)
Another shot showed Harry posing with the “Fire and Rain” singer while wearing a gray sweater, shirt and hat. Meghan, meanwhile, greeted the folk rock icon in a long-sleeved navy blue dress.
