Julia Stiles is a Swiftie, confirmed.
Stiles, 44, recalled going to a “game night party” during a Wednesday, May 21, appearance on the “How to Fail” podcast and detailed her relatable reaction to seeing Taylor Swift walk into the room.
“God, I hate myself right now. The biggest name-dropping I could do, but it happened and it’s awesome,” Stiles joked, noting that “you could just feel it” when Swift, 35, entered. “She has that presence.”
Stiles was gearing up to leave the party when she was stopped by Swift.
“A comedian stopped me, and he was like, ‘Wait, Taylor wants to say hi,’” the actress shared. “He orchestrated the whole thing, but he was like, ‘She really likes your work.’ We shook hands and I blacked out. I don’t remember actually what happened after that, but she said something very nice to me.”
Stiles joked that she “dissociated for a second” while they were making small talk.
“I told her that I was a huge fan of her. I finally worked up the courage to be like, ‘You’re amazing, this is crazy.’ She looked like she genuinely appreciated it,” Stiles added. “Even somebody like Taylor Swift, who is the biggest star on the planet, seems humble enough or just positive enough to be like, ‘Yeah, I’m glad that bazillions of people like to listen to my music.’ They don’t take it for granted.”
This is not the first time Stiles recalled her face-to-face meeting with Swift, however.
The 10 Things I Hate About You alum said Swift was the last person who made her feel starstruck during an interview with People in February.
“I was at a party, and Taylor Swift showed up. I wasn’t going to bother her, and she actually came over to me and said some really nice things,” Stiles gushed at the time. “I was so taken aback, it was all a blur. But I know I stood in the presence of Taylor Swift, and she was really sweet.”
Swift isn’t the only star who had Stiles feeling some type of way. While filming her directorial debut Wish You Were Here, released earlier this year, Stiles got a chance to work alongside Jennifer Grey. Instead of discussing Dirty Dancing, Stiles wanted to talk all things Dancing With the Stars.
“Dancing with the Stars is my Monday Night Football, and I am obsessed with it,” Stiles declared. “Her winning the mirrorball trophy on it with one of my favorite choreographers, Derek Hough, is — if not more remarkable to me or more jaw-dropping — than Dirty Dancing.”
