Ji Hye Won Talks About Her Character In Upcoming Drama “The First Night With The Duke”
Ji Hye Won has shared her thoughts on her character in the upcoming drama “The First Night with the Duke”!
“The First Night with the Duke” is a fantasy romance drama about an ordinary college student whose soul is transferred into a minor character of a romance novel (played by Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun). After she wakes up inside the world of the novel, she winds up spending the night with the obsessive male lead Yi Beon (2PM’s Taecyeon).
Ji Hye Won will play the role of the novel’s villain Do Hwa Seon. As the daughter of a high-ranking official, she grew up having everything she wanted and naturally became the center of high society. However, beneath her perfect image lies an insatiable desire for attention and love.
Do Hwa Seon sets her sights on marrying the male lead, Yi Beon, but her plans begin to fall apart because of minor character Cha Sun Chaek (Seohyun), leading her to reveal her true colors as the ultimate villainess.
One newly released still from the upcoming drama shows Do Hwa Seon with an innocent look that contrasts sharply with her antagonistic role. Her elegant hanbok and meticulous styling reflect her status as the queen bee of high society.
However, another set of images highlights her villainous side. In one photo, she fixes someone with a cold stare; in another, she stands confidently at the center of a gathering.
“The First Night with the Duke” marks Ji Hye Won’s first time appearing in a historical drama. “It was a drama that made a strong impression on me from the moment I read the script,” recalled the actress. “I was especially fascinated by the duality of Hwa Seon’s character.”
She went on to describe Do Hwa Seon further, saying, “Rather than simply being a bad person, she’s someone with strong survival instincts who will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Her lethal charm and confidence are her weapons. She’s a character with a wide emotional range, and I think that contrast will make her fun to watch.”
“The First Night With the Duke” premieres on June 11 at 9:50 p.m. KST and will be available to watch on Viki.
