3 Key Moments In Sooyoung And Gong Myoung’s Relationship In “Second Shot At Love”
As the drama heads into its second half, tvN’s “Second Shot at Love” has unveiled key romantic turning points between Sooyoung and Gong Myoung!
“Second Shot at Love” is a rom-com that follows Han Geum Ju (Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung), a self-proclaimed “reasonable drinker” who unexpectedly reunites with her first love Seo Ui Jun (Gong Myoung)—a man who despises alcohol—and decides to take on the challenge of quitting drinking.
Here are three key turning points in their relationship:
1. First encounter with a bicycle, bond deepened through alcoholGeum Ju and Ui Jun’s connection dates back to their high school days. When newly transferred student Ui Jun crossed paths with Geum Ju while dragging his broken bicycle, she offered to fix it herself. This chance encounter sparked the beginning of their relationship.
Their bond deepened in college, where they became known as “alcohol mates.” Although Ui Jun had a high alcohol tolerance, he always stayed sober to take care of Geum Ju, walking her home and supporting her quietly. Over time, their friendship began to blur into something more.
Ui Jun was the first to realize his romantic feelings. One night, after taking a drunken Geum Ju back to her dorm, he cautiously confessed his love and kissed her. However, Geum Ju didn’t remember the incident the next day, and Ui Jun happened to overhear her telling a friend that there was nothing romantic between them.
Despite his heartbreak, Ui Jun did not give up on her. But just as he resolved to stay by her side, a new challenge emerged: his estranged father, who had abandoned him years ago, suddenly returned and began to cause trouble. Using Geum Ju’s name to threaten Ui Jun financially, his father left him no choice. To protect her, Ui Jun made the painful decision to distance himself. Geum Ju, unaware of the full story, was left hurt and confused by his sudden withdrawal.
Now, the two have reunited again in their hometown Bocheon Village. Despite some initial awkwardness, their old camaraderie slowly resurfaces. Ui Jun becomes Geum Ju’s steady supporter as she tries to quit drinking.
They also begin to share the words they couldn’t say in the past. Geum Ju finally asks why he pulled away, and Ui Jun confesses his feelings once more—though he leaves out the part about his father. While he claims to have moved on, his words stir up Geum Ju’s long-buried emotions.
As their relationship continues to hover between friendship and romance, viewers are left wondering whether they will finally confront their true feelings—and whether their once-twisted fate can finally blossom into love.
