The family of 16 and Pregnant star Whitney Purvis has launched a GoFundMe to help her pay for funeral expenses in the wake of her 16-year-old son Weston Jr.’s untimely death.
“Weston [O]wen Gosa unexpectedly passed away on [J]une 2 2025,” the GoFundMe, which appeared to be launched on Tuesday, June 3, by Weston’s stepmother Amy Gosa, reads. “Weston suffered with multiple autoimmune diseases as well as diabetes, regardless of this his death comes as a shock to us.”
The GoFundMe continues, “Because it was unexpected we do not have the funds to give our son the burial and headstone he deserves. Please help support us so we can give our son a funeral he deserves and needs.”
Whitney, who shared Weston Jr. with ex Weston Gosa, announced on Monday, June 2, that her son had died unexpectedly.
“This is so hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston, has passed away. He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair,” she wrote via Facebook at the time. “I just don’t understand. Oh my baby is gone and I don’t know what to do with myself. He was so perfect. This is really my worst nightmare come true. How do you on in life after losing a child? I’m in disbelief, this cannot be happening. I don’t want it to be real. I would do anything just to hold him. Words can’t describe the pain I am feeling.”
While no official cause of death has been revealed, Amy shared via Facebook that the family tried to wake Weston up only to discover that he was “not breathing.”
“We attempted CPR and called an ambulance,” she continued via the post. “The paramedics attempted it as well and took him to the hospital in Gordon County where he was pronounced dead. He had several health issues as well as diabetes. We are completely heartbroken and in shock. It was so unexpected.”
Whitney and Weston welcomed their eldest son in April 2009 during the first season of 16 and Pregnant. In the wake of his death, the reality star has reflected on some of her favorite and most cherished memories with her son. (The exes, who split in 2014, also share son River.)
“I will always cherish our memories together,” she wrote via Instagram on Tuesday. “The songs you [used] to love, your laugh, the phases you would go through, the little dolphin noise you [used] to do when you were younger, your smile, your jokes, the first day of school, playing with you, your first time swimming, making crafts, how you would dance in your crib to the law and order svu theme song, being a great big brother, the first time I held you and the last hug I gave you.”
