Out of all the people in New York City, one influencer landed some of Hollywood’s biggest stars as her neighbors.
“Told them my upstairs neighbor was a celebrity,” social media star Ilana Wiles said in a recent TikTok upload, using the “#holyairball” trend to share her shocking fact.
Mimicking someone’s response to the statement, she wrote, ‘So like one of the Housewives?’” She followed up the comment by showing a photo of none other than power couple Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz.
“For the record, neither of us live there anymore but they were our upstairs neighbors for 10 years!” Wiles added in the TikTok post’s caption. “I only have nice things to say.”
Fans shared their jealousy in the video’s comments, with one user writing, “The way I would literally fall over if I came across James Bond in an elevator.” Another fan added, “I would never stop talking to [Rachel] about making another mummy movie ????.”
Craig, 57, and Weisz, 55, have notably made several NYC properties their home over the years, including an East Village apartment building where Wiles once resided, per Realtor.com. The couple reportedly purchased the condo for $6 million in 2012, one year after they tied the knot, according to Architectural Digest.
The unit, located on the building’s 15th floor, features three bedrooms and three bathrooms and can be accessed via a private elevator. In addition to three balconies, per AD, the apartment also consisted of a primary suite with its own walk-in closet and bathroom with black marble and wood paneling.
Craig and Weisz sold the residence for $6 million in 2019, after which they moved into a Brooklyn brownstone. The home previously suffered fire damage in 2016, giving them a clean slate to make the space their own.
Wiles previously opened up about her famous neighbors in a May 2022 Substack post. “No, they weren’t our best friends and they did not come over to borrow sugar or anything, but Mike did help Rachel carry her groceries up 15 flights one time during a power outage,” she told her followers. “[Rachel] looks 27 in real life, you should know. And I had numerous elevator run-ins with Daniel throughout those years, as did most of my friends and family who were over regularly.”
She went on to quip, “Do you know what it’s like to be alone in a small enclosed space with James Bond for a few moments? F***ing surreal. FYI, Daniel Craig’s eyes literally sparkle at you like the opening sequence of Dexter. Also, he is either legitimately friendly and likes small talk, or he starts conversations because he thinks it’s fun to mess with people.”
In her blog post, Wiles recalled that her husband, Mike, once knocked on Craig and Weisz’s door to ask about scaffolding from their apartment that was blocking light from coming into her own place. “Mike discovers that Daniel Craig is aware of the inconvenience they are placing on us and also wants the scaffolding down. He thinks the construction people are purposefully taking longer than necessary, so they can continue to charge them. It’s all a racket!” she wrote. “Celebrities, they are just like us! Daniel Craig says he will see what he can do and Mike leaves.”
The scaffolding was down the next day, and with it came a handwritten note and bottle of champagne from Craig and Weisz apologizing for the trouble. “And that’s my favorite NYC celebrity story!” Wiles concluded.
