Halle Berry was surprised by some fans’ reactions to her steamy Mother’s Day Instagram video with her boyfriend, Van Hunt.
“Other women got in their feelings and [said], ‘Was it right for her to be in her bed, talking about spinning with her man?’ Yes,” Berry, 58, said on the Wednesday, June 4, episode of Today With Jenna & Friends.
Clarifying that “spinning” meant having sex, she added, “And they were saying, ‘Should she be talking about that on Mother’s Day? Shouldn’t she be with her kids somewhere?’ First of all, it’s not Kids’ Day. It’s called Mother’s Day. Kids’ Day is every day for years. That’s my day, and if I want to be in bed and spin with my man, then that’s what I’m gonna do.”
Last month, Berry, 58, wrapped her holiday celebrations by cuddling with Hunt, 55, in bed while in France for the Cannes Film Festival. “I’m gonna tell you about how my Mother’s Day is gonna end,” she stated in her Instagram video before Hunt chimed in to add, “I wish you’d hurry up too.”
The actress proceeded to show the travel-size version of her Respin’s and Joylux Let’s Spin intimacy gel, which she said she and Hunt would be using that night. At the end of the clip, Hunt made Berry giggle by stating, “I ain’t ever been so happy to have Mother’s Day come to an end.”
On Wednesday’s Jenna & Friends, Berry responded to the video criticism by stating that sex is “the most natural thing that we do as women, as men.” She added, “For people to be offended by that, saying, ‘Instagram is a family channel,’ well, yeah, and we should be allowed to talk about this in our families. We have sex. … And scientifically, it’s really important that men and women still keep having orgasms and having sex into their later years because that’s how we stay healthy. That’s really a key component to longevity.”

Berry noted that “nothing” inappropriate was shown in the clip other than herself and Hunt lying in bed together. Today’s Jenna Bush Hager chimed in, saying that people shouldn’t slam the couple for showing off their love for each other.
“It should be OK to celebrate that and not be criticized for talking about love in a time like this, in a world like this, today. I’m sorry,” Berry said. “We should talk more about loving each other and not fighting. Whoever didn’t like it, so what?”
Berry later opened up about her and Hunt’s relationship when he joined her for their first interview together on Wednesday’s Jenna & Friends episode. “We’ve been doing this for five years together, so this is like the longest relationship I’ve ever had,” Berry gushed. (She was previously married to David Justice from 1993 to 1997, Eric Benét from 2001 to 2005 and Olivier Martinez from 2013 to 2016.)
“When you find your person, you find your person,” she stated. “And I now have found my person, finally.”
Hunt, for his part, shared that he and Berry often end their days “downloading” with each other, which he described as “talking at the end of the night with a little glass of wine.”
