Ginny — and Georgia — both struggled with their new normal following an arrest, a breakup and secrets that threatened to destroy their family.
During the second episode of Ginny & Georgia‘s third season, which premiered on Thursday, June 5, Georgia (Brianne Howey) was stuck on home arrest and that left time for a lot of spying on her neighbors. It also opened a door to an awkward reunion with Cynthia (Sabrina Grdevich), who visited Georgia to ask why she killed her husband Tom (Vincent Legualt).
Georgia stood by her claim that she was innocent but suggested to Cynthia that her husband’s passing could have been an “act of kindness.,” as he was deeply ill ahead of his death. Cynthia, however, didn’t see it that way and her presence later caused Ginny (Antonia Gentry) to have a panic attack.
It wasn’t just Ginny who was feeling the weight of her mother’s arrest. Austin (Diesel La Torraca) had to face his classmates, Georgia’s husband, Paul (Scott Porter), chose to pretend it was business as usual at work and Georgia’s friends — including Ellen (Jennifer Robertson) — pretended to believe she wasn’t involved in Cynthia’s husband dying.
Ginny tried to find solace in her poetry but she still considered self-harm. She ultimately confided in Bracia (Tameka Griffiths) about her mental health struggles. Ginny then had a candid conversation with ex-boyfriend Marcus (Felix Mallard) about his depression — and her frustration with their split. They tried to remain platonic, which just led to an almost kiss.
At the end of the episode, Zion’s (Nathan Mitchell) mother visited and caused an argument between Ginny and Georgia. Despite chasing after her daughter, Georgia couldn’t get far because of her ankle monitor and Ginny walked away from her. In flashbacks, viewers saw a younger Ginny moving in with Zion again after escaping the abusive Gil (Aaron Ashmore). They kissed while Ginny watched despite Georgia telling her daughter they were just friends.

Ginny & Georgia, which premiered in 2021, follows a young single mother who moved her family to Wellsbury, Massachusetts, after running away from her past. In addition to Howey, 35, and Gentry, 27, the Netflix series also stars Diesel La Torraca, Mallard, Sara Waisglass, Porter and Raymond Ablack.
When season 2 wrapped up in 2023, Ginny and her brother, Austin, finally found out about their mother’s murderous past. By the finale, Georgia was arrested on her and Paul’s wedding day for the murder of fellow Wellsbury resident Cynthia’s husband. Georgia previously killed Cynthia’s terminally ill husband after learning Cynthia blocked Austin’s dad Gil’s application to move to Wellsbury.
Before the hit series returned to Netflix, Howey, 35, spoke exclusively to Us Weekly about how the more than two-year hiatus between seasons offered her a new perspective on the show. (Howey and husband Matt Ziering welcomed a daughter in 2023.)
“Having my own daughter going through these scenes … meant so much more in a new way,” she noted. “The more personal you make the work, the more universal it becomes, and the writing, the story, the nuance, it’s so personal to everybody involved and it seems to be making waves. No matter what walk of life you come from, there seems to be a character that you feel like you can really relate to and that you want to go on this journey with them.”
Ginny & Georgia is currently streaming on Netflix.
