Jax Taylor is taking a break from the highs and lows that come with social media.
“I’ve made the decision to stay off social media for the next while to prioritize my mental health and recovery,” Taylor, 45, wrote via his Instagram Story on Thursday, June 5. “My team will be running it for the time being.”
The announcement came after The Valley star opened up about his mental health in a candid conversation with his sister Jenny.
While appearing on Thursday’s episode of the “In the Mind of Jax Taylor” podcast, Taylor explained to his sibling that seeing some things on social media could be hurtful to his mental health.
“My brain is so fragile, and if I see certain things, they might trigger me,” he said. “Something might hit a chord, and I don’t think I’m strong enough to read certain things.”
At the same time, the Vanderpump Rules alum acknowledged that reading some critical comments could help him realize why he needs to change.

“For me to grow and get better and be a better person, there are some things I need to see in order to know what’s going on,” he shared. “But I think I took it so much to the extreme of blocking everything and living in my own little world.”
“The phone has become a problem,” he admitted. “Do I need to be on social media? No, I don’t.”
Viewers of The Valley have had a front-row seat to Taylor’s mental health journey. In recent episodes, the Bravo star has been in a mental health treatment facility in hopes of becoming healthier both physically and mentally.
“I’m so tired of anger. I’m so tired of yelling,” Taylor said in the Tuesday, June 3, episode of The Valley, before acknowledging some mistakes with his estranged wife Brittany Cartwright. “I also pushed her away. I pushed her away and I didn’t even f***ing see it. I didn’t even realize what I was doing. I’ve gotten away with it for so long that I found this to be acceptable behavior and it’s obviously not.”
Some cast members, including Jason and Janet Caperna, said they noticed a change in Taylor’s behavior during treatment.
Cartwright, 36, however, questioned if he was doing enough work to make a substantial change.
“I was always hopeful that being in the facility would make some kind of change or open his eyes just a little bit to do something better,” she said in Tuesday’s episode. “But based on his behavior the whole time he’s been in there, I am so worried that he hasn’t learned a damn thing.”
