Jang Shin Young, Seo Ha Joon, And More Tangled In Web Of Revenge And Ambition In “The Woman Who Swallowed The Sun”
MBC’s upcoming drama “The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun” has teased an intense web of love, revenge, and ambition among its four leads!
“The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun” follows the intense journey of Baek Seol Hee (Jang Shin Young), a single mother seeking revenge against a powerful conglomerate family for the sake of her only daughter.
Jang Shin Young x Seo Ha Joon — Bound by a Shared PurposeBaek Seol Hee and Moon Tae Kyung (Seo Ha Joon) cross paths by chance but quickly find themselves united by a common goal: revenge. While Seol Hee is consumed by a desperate desire to avenge her daughter, Tae Kyung returns to Korea after 25 years to reclaim what was stolen from him. As they come to understand each other’s pain and anger, a deep bond begins to form. Will this connection help them achieve their goals, or will their growing feelings complicate their fates?
Once living a peaceful life running a small eatery while raising her daughter, Seol Hee’s world is shattered in an instant. When she discovers that the powerful Min Gang Group is behind her tragedy, she vows not to back down. Standing in her way is Min Kyung Chae (Yoon Ah Jung), the group’s favored successor. With good looks, wealth, and charisma built by privilege, Kyung Chae lives a life that couldn’t be more different from Seol Hee’s. While Seol Hee finds joy in life’s simple pleasures and radiates warmth and kindness, Min Kyung Chae—who’s had everything since birth—craves even more power. Their fierce showdown, with neither woman willing to yield, sets the stage for a gripping clash.
Seol Hee also shares an unresolved past with Kim Sun Jae (Oh Chang Suk), head of Min Gang’s legal team. Raised in poverty, Sun Jae rose through sheer intellect and drive—and now stops at nothing to get what he wants. Their shared history hints at unfinished business, leaving viewers to wonder: how does Sun Jae fit into Seol Hee’s fight, and is their connection a ticking time bomb?
A tense triangle also forms between Tae Kyung, Kyung Chae, and Sun Jae. Min Gang’s chairman Min Doo Shik (Jeon No Min) quietly hopes to see his daughter Kyung Chae grow close to Tae Kyung, who now leads the company’s new business division. But Sun Jae, eager to become part of the elite family, competes fiercely for Kyung Chae’s affection. As Tae Kyung infiltrates the company for revenge, Kyung Chae fights for succession, and Sun Jae schemes for status, their ambitions collide—igniting a storm of power plays, obsession, and betrayal.
