Jared Leto has been accused of “sexual impropriety” by multiple women.
AirMail published a lengthy exposé on Saturday, June 7, alleging that Leto, 53, had acted inappropriately with younger women for many years. (The Oscar winner denied all of the accusations in a statement to the publication. Us Weekly has reached out for comment.)
“It’s been an open secret for a long time,” an anonymous woman claimed to AirMail, theorizing that Leto’s behavior demonstrated a long-standing pattern of alleged abuse.
Another woman claimed that she was 16 when she met Leto at a café in Los Angeles, during which he allegedly asked for her phone number.
“I don’t know if he was on drugs or what,” the woman claimed of a phone call that she said she received from the actor. “It was the weirdest, grossest voice, [but] for me, it’s Jared, you know?” (A spokesperson for Leto told AirMail that he “has not had a drink or used drugs in over 35 years.”)
According to the woman, Leto allegedly invited her to a party at his house in Laurel Canyon. While she declined the invite, she said that Leto kept reaching out.
“Always at one, two, three a.m.,” she alleged. “The conversations turned sexual. He’d ask things like, ‘Have you ever had a boyfriend? Have you ever sucked a d***?’ He changed — his voice, the way he talked. It scared me. That was the first time I thought, ‘Oh my God, that’s not just in movies.’”
Model Laura La Rue also told the outlet that she allegedly had a similar encounter with Leto in 2008 when she was 16. La Rue further claimed that Leto often texted her to visit his house.
“I remember him teasing me the whole time I was there,” she claimed to AirMail, revealing she accepted his alleged offer. “He was flirting with me. He’d lean in close, then pull away, like it was a game.”
In a statement to AirMail, Leto’s rep denied that he sent any “sexual or inappropriate” messages to La Rue and further claimed that she later tried to apply for a job as his personal assistant. La Rue, however, denied the accusation.
She also claimed that Leto once walked into a room she was in completely naked.
“He just walked out, dick out, like it was normal,” La Rue, who was 17 at the time, alleged. “I thought maybe this was just what adult men do.”
Another woman, meanwhile, alleged that Leto would switch between acting sweet and “really demanding.” Others claimed that Leto would ask them to spit on his genitals while masturbating or invite underage girls to house parties. Leto has denied all the allegations against him.
