When they finally settle in Wellsbury, Massachusetts, they form relationships with the locals that change their lives — but their secrets start to catch up with them.

‘Sirens’ (2025)Netflix’s star-studded limited series features Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon, Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus season 2) and Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) in a sexy, explosive dramedy about one chaotic weekend at a lavish beach estate. Devon (Fahy), worried about her younger sister Simone’s (Alcock) bizarrely close relationship with her billionaire boss Michaela (Moore), decides to stage an intervention — only to find that Michaela holds a nearly hypnotic power over everyone in her circle. Can Devon rescue Simone from the cult of the ultra-rich?
Sirens is a juicy and thrilling dark comedy that’s perfect for when you’re avoiding cleaning up after your fabulous summer barbecue.
This comedy, created by Tina Fey, Lang Fisher (Never Have I Ever), and Tracey Wigfield (Good News), was initially conceived as a limited series, but it proved so popular that they’ve decided to bring it back for another season. Based on the 1981 movie of the same name, The Four Seasons follows three couples (Fey, Steve Carell, Will Forte, Colman Domingo, Kerri Kenney-Silver and Marco Calvani) who have a quarterly tradition of going on vacation together. When one duo splits up, it changes their dynamic forever.

‘One Day’ (2024)The second adaptation of a 2009 novel by David Nicholls, One Day succeeds where the movie version failed in telling the story of Emma Morley (Ambika Mod in the Netflix version) and Dexter Mayhew (Leo Woodall, who you might recognize from The White Lotus season 2). The two friends share an epic will-they-won’t-they relationship over 14 years. Each episode of the show checks in on them on one very special day — July 15, also known as the day they met.
Mod and Woodall have impeccable chemistry throughout the series, and the drama and romance could penetrate even the most cynical of hearts. Watch it on July 15, of course. (Or any other day — it’s a joy at any time.)
‘Dept. Q’ (2025)
Dept. Q doesn’t have an obvious connection to summer, but its status as one of Netflix’s hottest shows earns it a spot on this list. The Scottish crime thriller is based on a book series by Danish writer Jussi Adler-Olsen and follows detective Carl Morck (Matthew Goode, The Crown) when he is tasked with setting up a new department to crack seemingly impossible cold cases. Scott Frank, creator of The Queen’s Gambit, oversees this series, which balances crime and personal stories with aplomb.
Dept Q. hasn’t yet been renewed for a second season, but given its 83 percent Rotten Tomatoes score and popular status on Netflix, the odds look good. For fans of great ensemble dynamics, sharp writing and mind-bending mysteries, Dept Q is a great fit. Watch it when the heat’s getting to you and you wish you could retreat to a chilly pub in Edinburgh.
