Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe’s daughter, Ava Phillippe, is seeing double!
After Ava, 25, recently shared a TikTok video of her and boyfriend Dakota Brubaker lip-syncing along to a Kesha song, her followers couldn’t help but notice the resemblance between Brubaker, sporting blonde locks and a black tank top, and her actor father, who famously wore a fitted white tank top in I Know What You Did Last Summer.
In fact, one user noted just how uncannily similar Ava and Brubaker looked to her former it-couple parents, commenting, “Close enough. Welcome back Reese & Ryan!”
On Wednesday, June 11, Ava posted another TikTok video reacting to the comparison — and channeled her mom and dad’s famous movie Cruel Intentions in the process.

In the clip, a forlorn Ava can be seen repeatedly mouthing “no” to the camera as Brubaker appears behind her in a black turtleneck and glasses, just like Phillippe, 50, wore in the 1999 teen thriller.
The icing on the cake? The video is set to the tune of The Verve’s “Bitter Sweet Symphony,” which soundtracked the end of the movie as Witherspoon’s character, Annette, drove off into the sunset after surviving a deadly love triangle with Phillippe’s Sebastian and Kathryn (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, who also played Phillippe’s love interest in I Know What You Did Last Summer).
Reluctant as Ava may be to admit the likeness between her and Brubaker and her parents, her followers were convinced that they had been transported back in time.
“OMGGG!! I see it!!! Like literal Reese and Ryan,” commented one TikTok user.
Another said, “Lol can’t unsee it. It’s the hair,” referring to Brubaker’s blonde curls.
“Omg it’s like I went back to the 90s and it’s Reese and Ryan. Even the way she says no ????????,” added another TikTok user.
Despite common misconception, Ava’s parents were already a couple before they filmed Cruel Intentions together. Witherspoon, 49, and Phillippe got married in June 1999 and welcomed Ava that September. Ava’s brother, Deacon, 21, joined the brood in 2003. The couple eventually split in 2006 and finalized their divorce a year later. (Witherspoon went on to wed, and later divorce, Jim Toth, with whom she shares son Tennessee, 12.)
As for Ava and Brubaker, the couple made their relationship Instagram official in December 2024 with a photobooth-style snap showing Brubaker planting a kiss on her cheek.
