Peacock subscribers are in for a treat this weekend, because one of our favorite films of 2025 is now streaming on the platform.
The Ballad of Wallis Island only had a limited release in theaters earlier this year, but it’s the kind of movie that’s a welcome respite from blockbuster films and a reminder that not every story has to have impossible stakes.
It’s an easy pick to be among the Watch With Us team’s three underrated Peacock movies you need to watch this weekend.
Our other two picks include a horror film with some familiar faces and a dramedy about a family vacation that goes off the rails.
‘The Ballad of Wallis Island’ (2025)It may be too early to call The Ballad of Wallis Island an Oscar contender, but this film deserves recognition as one of the year’s best. Tim Key stars as Charles Heath, a wealthy lottery winner who has more money than he could ever hope to spend. But the one thing Charles wants to do with his wealth is reunite his favorite folk music duo, McGwyer Mortimer.
Considering that Herb McGwyer (Tom Basden) and his ex-partner/former lover, Nell Mortimer (Carey Mulligan), barely speak anymore, getting them to play together is a tall order even for Charles. A full reconciliation may not be possible, but some bonds from the past remain strong, and there may still be hope for love on Wallis Island.

‘Knock Knock’ (2015)A decade before appearing together in the John Wick spinoff Ballerina, Keanu Reeves and Ana de Armas starred in the horror film Knock Knock. Reeves headlines the movie as Evan Webber, a family man who is recovering from an injury at home while his wife and children are on vacation. When two young women, Bel (Armas) and Genesis (Lorenza Izzo), show up on his doorstep, it doesn’t take much effort for them to seduce Evan.
Letting Bel and Genesis into his home turns into the worst mistake of Evan’s life, because they aren’t there for his enjoyment. Instead, they turn the weekend into a sick game as they torture Evan and threaten to destroy his family with evidence of his infidelity.

‘Force Majeure’ (2014)If your family were in danger, would you run towards them or save yourself? The comedy/drama Force Majeure puts Tomas (Johannes Bah Kuhnke) in that position when it looks like his wife, Ebba (Lisa Loven Kongsli), and their children are about to be overtaken by an avalanche. Tomas runs away without them, and Ebba doesn’t seem willing to forgive or forget that.
That incident casts a long shadow over the family’s vacation with their friends, and it even threatens to break up another couple, Mats (Game of Thrones‘ Kristofer Hivju) and Fanny (Fanni Metelius), when they have opposing opinions about what happened. Tomas also keeps doubling down on his actions to the point where he may not be able to win back his family’s trust.
