Grant Ellis’ mother, Renee Ellis, has thoughts on her son’s broken engagement to Juliana Pasquarosa — and shared them in the form of a poem.
“Grant and Juliana’s journey did not end in anger, bitterness or disparity,” Renee wrote via Instagram on Saturday, June 14. “Their friendship simply inspired mutual growth and clarity.”
She added, “Special moments they’ve experienced together, distinctive memories left untethered, respect for one another, without regrets and no complaints. A FRIENDSHIP that will last forever.”
Grant, 31, and Juliana, 28, got engaged during The Bachelor season 29 finale, which aired earlier this year. They announced their breakup on Friday, June 13.
“Marriage is a BIG decision. The connection they developed for one another went beyond television as they sorted through emotions, similarities and differences,” Renee added in her poem. “In the end their dreams and visions were met with support and understanding. Now they bless each other with happy futures and new beginnings.”
She concluded, “Thanks to everyone who showed you love and support.”
Grant and Juliana have each echoed similar sentiments.
“This is one of the harder things I’ve had to write, but I want to share it honestly. Juliana and I have decided to end our relationship,” Grant wrote via his Instagram Stories on Friday. “We both gave this our best and poured a lot of love into each other, but after a lot of deep conversations, we’ve come to the understanding that we’re simply not the right fit long term.”
He added, “There’s no negativity here, no resentment [and] just two people who care about each other and want the best for one another moving forward. I’ll always be grateful for what we shared and for the growth that came with it. Thank you to everyone who supported us and believed in our journey. This chapter is closing, but we’re both walking away with love and respect in our hearts.”
Juliana, for her part, stressed in a statement that she wishes Grant the best moving forward as she focuses on “healing.”
“I’m focused on healing, staying close to my support system and keeping it all about nice girl energy — always,” she told Us Weekly in a statement, also referencing former contestant Carolina Quixano’s shady comments about the split.
Weeks before their formal breakup announcement, Grant exclusively told Us that they were taking their relationship “day by day.”
“She is a person [who] has a lot of support with family and friends,” Grant said on May 21. “She’s spending a lot of time with them and with me. We’re just now getting into taking things slow, moving together now.”
