Noah Cyrus got inspiration for her new album from her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus.
“My dad is one of my biggest influences,” Noah, 25, said in a press release announcing her new album, I Want All My Loved Ones To Go With Me, on Tuesday, June 17. “He turned me on to so many great songs and artists. My musical inspirations came from somewhere, and more often than not, it’s been him.”
Noah explained that some songs on the record have a connection to her family, including her dad. “With You” is inspired by the first song that Billy Ray, 63, ever wrote while “I Saw the Mountains” is reminiscent of spending her childhood out in nature.
“The harmony between people and the earth is really taken for granted,” she shared. “My dad taught us from an early age to connect with nature and the animals that inhabit it.”
Noah announced on Tuesday that she was dropping I Want All My Loved Ones To Go With Me on July 11. The album has Americana, indie folk and country music influences, which will give the world a taste of who Noah truly is.
“For a long time, I couldn’t really trust in my own choices. I had to learn how to make decisions for myself and make that transition into adulthood,” Noah said of putting the record together. “But I’ve found who I am, I know who I am, and this record shows what I had inside me all this time. This album is me.”
In addition to having songs inspired by her loved ones, Noah also teamed up with Blake Shelton, Fleet Foxes, Ella Langley and Bill Callahan on some tracks. She added that she hopes they feel “peaceful nostalgia” when listening to the album.
“We all want to connect with our past while also being aware of the present moment. Music does that for me, and this collection of songs was made with that in mind,” Noah noted. “I want to evoke that feeling of a comforting friend that a song can be — and allow us all to heal.”
In addition to dropping the record, Noah will be headlining her own North American tour.
Noah is the youngest daughter of Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus. The pair, who were married from 1993 to 2022, are also parents to son Braison Cyrus and daughter Miley Cyrus. Billy Ray also adopted Tish’s two eldest children from a previous relationship, Brandi and Trace, and is father to son Christopher, whom he shares with Kristin Luckey.
While Billy Ray and Noah have shared a close bond, the Cyrus family has had their fair share of ups and downs over the years, with Noah and Braison noticeably missing from Tish’s wedding to Dominic Purcell in 2023. Miley and Billy Ray were also previously estranged before mending their relationship earlier this year and Trace has gone on social media to slam Billy Ray on multiple occasions.
“We cleaned all that up,” Miley said of squashing the family beef during a recent appearance on Monica Lewinsky’s “Reclaiming” podcast. “That was a really big part of my year this year, was all of my family, putting all of those lines of communication back together.”
