Working with John Travolta was everything Sam Asghari hoped for and more.
“It was just very surprising for me to see someone that’s been in the game for such a long time,” Asghari, 31, shared in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly while supporting his upcoming short film Freedom of the Fly. “It just goes to reconfirm why these people are legends and why these people are who they are because you see their work ethic and their dedication to work. They’ve been in the game for such a long time, and that makes me inspired.”
In April, Asghari got fans buzzing on his Instagram when he shared a photo with Travolta, 71, from an undisclosed movie set.
“First week of filming In the cans ????️????,” he wrote on April 6. “Having the opportunity to act amongst a legend and to learn from is unreal for me.”
While details of the project remain top secret for now, Asghari promised fans he didn’t fanboy in between takes. Instead, he kept things professional as he took in his costar’s acting chops.
“I have icons, and I have people that I follow blueprints, and I have people that I learn from on a daily basis,” he explained to Us. “When I’m working alongside somebody — let’s say if it’s John Travolta or Al Pacino or whoever the case is — I’m always going to be there as an actor. But when I’m there, I always get surprised, and [it] kind of reconfirms the professionalism of how these people got to where they are. It sort of inspires me and makes me wanna be like that.”

Before sharing the big screen with Travolta, Asghari had the opportunity to appear in season 3 of The Traitors.
While competing on the Peacock reality show, the model and fitness trainer was able to make friends with several costars, including Dylan Efron.
“Because of his age that’s close to me and his lifestyle, we kept in touch, and he lives close by,” Asghari said. “We don’t really exercise together because I’m a little bit stronger than Dylan and he can’t really keep up with me when it comes to that.”
All jokes aside, Asghari said it was great to make new friends with Efron, 33.
Instead of chatting about who could be a Traitor, Asghari shared that his conversations with his former costar now revolve around other topics.
“We talk about acting here and there, and I’ve been helping him out with auditioning and things like that,” he teased to Us. “It’s really cool.”
